frazzle: The max skin size is 256X256. I squeezed as much detail into them as I could. If you look closely you can see some streaks and indentations. Thanks for the encouraging comments.

Yeah I noticed that to, but for a 256x256 skin size, the texture looks quite good

Cheers

Frazzle

EDIT: looking good Damocles ^^

Damocles: I'm not really a fan of you experimenting with textures on my post. Maybe you could start your own post on texture creation workflow.

JakeL: don't get all angry, he is just suggesting some mimprovements / own visions about your work

Things to improve actually (after hard looking):
Lighting
Texture detail (I mean just the colors)

its a bit monochrome feeling in there now

I'm not getting angry.

I'm just not sure people should be doing texture experimentation on my post.

I understand critiques and comments and welcome them, but nothing about this level is going to change. I don't agree about the lighting. They may be a little
bright. I might just build it again with the ambient down.

I would have thought my original post would clarify things a bit. I'm really looking for performance information.

Here you have your performance data: Runs fine and without jerks on my AthlonXP 3500+ with nVidia geForce 7800fx.

Well, that weren't texture experiments, that were some idea how you could improve your level. Critics and comments are usual in the showcase forums and you should appreciate that others user try to give you creative input.

Always learn from history, to be sure you make the same mistakes again...

I dont see a FrPS panel on the screen It runs fine here too (Celeron 2.6GHz; GeForce 6600LE 256MB DDR; 256MB DDR RAM)
And , btw , comments dont mean that you should change your level , comments are to help you improve your skills in the future. If you dont know that something is wrong with the picture you wont be able to make a better one , you'll make the same mistakes!

PS.: Let me get off topic too , some of the textures look like stone/cement , you should add more effects next time to make them look more like metal. And just a suggestion by me Use 512x512 textures for walls (minimum) dont worry about performance or older video cards...Doom 3 wasnt ment for Pentium I with a VooDoo 3 or Riva TNT...

What's the point of us commenting then? j/k

The level runs fine by the way, I agree though that it's a bit too light and definately too grey. It's not a bad thing, but personally I'd like some more colors. Nowadays, 'sci-fi' means textures with lot's of colored metallics, computerscreens on the wall, colored glass windows and way more different things. The style of this level reminds me of Unreal Tournament 1. Again, not per se a bad thing,

Cheers
