Interesting, I'll give the "selecting the faces, then selecting the skin, and hitting apply" trick. I'll try to keep an eye and notice if it takes a hit in performance.

I build, layout UVs, rig, and animate my models in maya. I just didn't know if 3DGS could handle per face skin assignments in the same way.

Any other thoughts are welcome and I'll let you know how the test goes.
