Hi !!!

I've a question. Is it legal to use models made with Gmax in my own commercial or non-commercial game in 3dGS ?
I'm not sure about what I found in the Gmax licence.

Gmax was created to advertise 3dsmax and to give every 3d Artist a first look on the interface and tools of the Max tools. The industry really needs artist who know the standard creation tools like 3dsmax, Maya, Softimage aso..

Also it was done for serveral Games like Quake 3, Rtcw but only for non-commercial use. So if you want to use it in a commercial way, you have to buy a full license.

Best way is to start with Softimage Mod-Tool the standard license is around 500 €.

Hiya.

The "Softimage Mod-Tool" is free...but it only works for/with Half-Life 2. I think what you mean is Softimage Foundation (there are three versions of SI; Foundation at $500, Essentials at $2000, and Advanced at $6500).

Thats not true, the Softimage Mod Tool also got a XSI File Exporter, which can be used to get your art into third party tools like Milkshape.
