Hi.

Rigging is one of the things i cant do. And cause its a hobby i even want to wink

Now i have a model with bones and some mocap BVH's.
Is there any Software that combines those different bone structures in an easy way?
When i recorded my own mocaps, iPi Soft did it on the fly if i remember right. But the license is gone and very expensive btw.

edit:
Like Mixamo.com but with own bone model.

Thanks for any tips.
Greets

Hi,
I am afraid that fitting different bone hirarchies needs a lot of work. I had to manually edit shoulders, spine and arms animation curves and bone lengths in the same case. I am not pro and it took me weeks. I used 3dsmax and imported the bvh files over the bone structure of the model by editing the bvh and setting the proper bone names and sizes. It is a text file at the end.

It can work pretty well if the models are similar enough and if you can match the idle pose to the model you're importing from.

Why isnt there any Software/Service doing the same like iPi Soft or Mixamo.com ?

Mixamo would be perfect if you can upload a bone model too.
Using Mixamo felt like ripping a store laugh

maximum bone count in 3dgs is 72. It seems larger...

With bones done in the vertexshader the limit is 72, yes. For cpu bones I don't think there's a limit.
(I once used a static model with about 320 bones. I wouldn't want to animate this at runtime, though)

Edit: you could probably write your own animation system. I don't think it's worth it, though.

I didn't really know in that case.
