Hello,

i have a question..

can i create advanced physics system in normal 3dgs Physics commands ?

or do i need to use Newton Dynamics Engine ?

Thanks.

Advanced how exactly?

I've done a small hovercar code using the Gamestudio physics.

can it handle wheel , cylinder types ,etc ?
and what about speed ? can i make rag rolls ?

Yes you can create wheels easily and cylinder types too, but withe ragdolls the work would be harder you know.

yes.. ragdolls are hard !

anyways happy to hear that 3DGS Physics system is enough to get started..

normal 3dgs Physics - Box and Sphere only work proper. All other types are buggy.

Instead use Newton with Lite-C. Very stable and supports, Sphere, Box, Cylinder, Cone, and Convex hulls and some others too. Ventilator has implemented the wrapper for it.

A better choice would be to use Ageia Physix, but cant find any wrapper for it. Though there is a wrapper in blitz3d. It supports Cloth and water too. Hope to find that somebody wraps it for 3DGS.

Someone started with a wrapper for Physix, but don't know if he released a actual dll for it. Would be a nice project though (though it would require the users of your game to download the driver)

how to do Water / Cloth Simulations ? is it possible with Newton ?

Re: neweton / basic 3dgs commands ? - 07/02/07 11:38

Water / Cloth Simulations not possible with newton. Its only possible with Ageia Physix for now. Even Magnets are supported in Physix.

As for users of your game to download the driver is concerned, I suppose that is not necessary. You have to provide a couple of dll for it to work on user system.

Cloth and water pysics are possible with 3d gamestudio you must have the A7 pro edition for it.
