Problem Compiling a Level Map

Problem Compiling a Level Map - 01/09/08 23:50

Here is my problem,
When I compile my level in Wed, the compiler just stop in the middle of the "Building fat hull..." part. It doesn't freeze, it just stop indefinitely while the little dot at the bottom right still blinks. The upper left corner reads: "nexus (2056)"

One thing I noticed is that when I remove some part of the level, it can compile to the end. I know my level is not too big since it is still inside the level boundaries. My level is about 16384 quants * 16384 quants, there is 2104 blocks and 53 entities. I have already set the Max level size in the advance setting of the map compiler to 250 000 (the max), but no result.

If someone have a solution, please let me know.
Thx

If you have a lot of blocks and add more then it gets stuck, WELL, its not stuck, it just needs alittle longer to complete its calculations.
Typcally bsp levels (Geometry based) used to take up to a week to compile for complex levels, let alone the few hours some test scenes may require.

The solution is to split your level into smaller levels

Alright, thank you. Back to the drawing board...

Hey let us know if letting the level take a whole "week" to compile works out for you. I am interested to know in case I run into a similar problem.

Set in the compiler window "Visibly Calculations" to low or off.
