A new Gamestudio update is available for a public test:

http://server.conitec.net/down/gstudio_820.exe

Some of the new functions of Gamestudio 8.20: HDR shader, motorized joints, rope joint, registry functions, new shooter templates, unprotected multiplayer sessions, and many new or improved engine functions. A detailed list can be found here:

Install the update over your Gamestudio 8.10 version. Please report any problems to the bug forum.

I have been testing....
Download and up-date went perfect...
No Syntax errors from A8.10 to this Public Test Beta.... Nice...
But, I do have an issue where my avatars falls through the terrain...
Weird... Then they follow the terrain but they are under the terrain...
(The terrains are scaled 1-to-1 as required for PhysX.)
Strange... I suppose it's my coding again... But it works perfect through A8.10
Was there some sort of Physics change that is causing this?
(I am running with C-Lite.)

Nice to see that it is possible to create pathes at runtime.
I tried to create a path und let a ball follow it but it doesnt work:

Terrasame: Check if your avatars use c_trace or physics collisions to keep ground distance. If they move with physics, you need to set their bounding boxes accordingly.

Bone: I'll look into the path problem. Please post problem reports to the bug forum or developer's forum however, as here such a report could easily get lost.

Some really quick personnal taste afetr testing !

Shooter Template :

-Well, we have to choose on Project Manager the libraries we want, strange i didn't find Player librarie ?

- After importing you have compile errors, caus the libraries
uses sound, pictures etc ... that are not imported when you import libraries by the Project Manager !
So i had to copy/past missing things one by one at each error compiler frown

- The HUD of the example take all the screen, so i had the level dark even with sun at max and i didn't understand why :
It was the HUD panel implemented on player librarie that covered all teh screen frown

Well, i find some others problems that i didn't remember !
I was really discouraged to use the template really !

At final i just found the Best solution :
-COPY THE AUM97 SHOOTER TEMPLATE DIRECTLY ON MY PROJECT FOLDER
it contains all sounds,images it needs, i had just to modify
things, remove some etc ...

Shader test HDR : Fine, and great laugh
--------------

SED : during lot of compilations, several crashes on errors on code frown

----------------
GED terrain multitexturing :
Even after choosing the textures, i could not paint the second one , after selecting it in diverses ways !
And two crashes , i abandonned frown
Too unstable for my taste , should be recoded ??

Wishes :
In WED right click on object explorer should show some menus
with : move,rotate,scale, properties, behaviour, clone, go to object etc .... ?

Conclusion :

For Templates, perhaps change project manager to include all needed media, or put an option to copy
all libraries and needed media directly on our project ??


I just hope stability in GED, better WED interface one day, why not dreaming a all-in-one editor laugh ??
This engine deserves better support and improvments !

Anyway, A8 is just great !

GED and WED will be replaced by a new editor that uses the engine for rendering the level while building it. Look at the forecast wink

I didn't understood that !
But if that is the case for a new editor , it's really the best thing that could happen to A8 , it really deserves to stay
on indie market !
So easy to pick up and make any game type fast !

I don't know if this editor comes before A9 because it seems that they haven't started working on the editor (according to the forecast) and developing a solid editor will also requires some time for a small team!

I guess Dagobert has higher priority for Conitec at the moment.

Great news for WED !

I'seen some user addons included in A8 like LBGUI; i really hope A8 to keep that way : Integrate users great tools or Addons ! It just the best option for all community.

Even the particle editor could be done by some user like in the old days where it existed a great one for A6 made by a user !

I have been asking about this for a while, glad to see I wasn't forgotten (Thanks JCL). I have no C++ experience and using the plugin SDK is difficult for someone like me, creating DLLs via lite C will help a lot. I hope instructions will be provided which describe how to pass GStudio numbers and strings to other languages from the DLL.

Yes openal progress is stagnating... All features in the forecast are very promissing currently :-) Can't wait to see them in action.

It would be cool to have some thread named :
"USERS UPDATES & ANNOUCEMENTS" !
For littles addons or little tools that would be done by user that would be sure to make it from beginning to end (not more than 3 months at free time to do it) !

Well , there is Third Party tools for that, it was just an idea ,
im' not sure Conitec would give some users some updates to do !
