Re: Forum Down - 03/18/08 22:51

Re: Forum Down - 03/19/08 02:37

Yeah I also found it down for long yesterday

Re: Forum Down - 03/19/08 07:21

We had a downtime of 7 minutes Sunday night, due to a server update. I was not aware of another downtime. The server is located in Europe, so it's possible that the availability in the US is worse than here. But if someone could not reach the forum for a longer time, like 10 minutes or more, please give me your location and the downtime you experienced. Maybe there's an explanation.

I experienced that quite often the last time around midnight GMT+1, DNS resolving worked,
but the forum itself was unaccessible, mostly a blank page.

Re: Forum Down - 03/19/08 09:45

I am at GMT + 5.5 hours(India)...It was down on 18th March morning from probably 07:00 in the morning to 14:30 in the noon. However I could only not access the forum, but I could access the Conitec site.

Re: Forum Down - 03/19/08 09:58

It was awefully often down the last days. And I dont live in the U.S. as you know.

Re: Forum Down - 03/19/08 10:21

Same here. ( Sweden )

It was down for 4 or 5 hours
and also for some shorter periods after that.

No forum, No Conitec site, No nothing
I don't complain .. this is for information only

Re: Forum Down - 03/19/08 13:19

Yeah, that happens pretty often. I'm from Germany...
sometimes the server is down over an hour. At least my browser just loads and loads, but doesn't receive a page.

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 10:20

Yesterday the forum was down for 4 hours or longer.
I live in The Netherlands, and I was not the only one experiencing trouble in accessing the forum.

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 11:19

Yep, had trouble accessing the forums the whole evening (around 19:00 GMT+1).
Server did not answer. The conitec and 3dgamestudio.com website however were up and running.

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 17:43

Confirmed... down on Sunday also in Sweden
Mostly irritating when this keeps on each weekend.

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 17:47

From Saturday evening until Sunday afternoon! About 50km distance from the server (if it's in Dieburg).
Posted By: Michael_Schwarz

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 18:57

nooooooooooo
of course it hasnt been down.

just a mass illusion, because the server logs do show nothing suspicious!

or maybe it's just a placebo effect, because we all have read this thread, so we just THOUGHT the server was down because our sub-conscience made us think so!

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 20:09

All day yesterday again ! (I know, I'm imagining it)

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 20:26

Since saturday, an underwater cable between europe and north amerika is damaged, which can cause
connection problems to servers in the usa. DNS resolving works, but traffic can have downtimes,
as the other routes may have overload.

I remember that Marco told once that www.coniserver.net is hosted at 1and1 in the states for certain reasons.

Re: Forum Down - 03/23/08 22:01

then why couldn't USA-Forum-Users access the forum?

just be honest and give in that the server has been down.

Re: Forum Down - 03/24/08 00:23

Same in Australia +10 hours, the forums are down for long periods now and then.
Over the Easter weekend could only access for a few hours.

Re: Forum Down - 03/25/08 08:58

hm, its quite often down. e.g. the last two hours it was not available here. maybe you are at 1&1? that would be an explanation

Re: Forum Down - 03/25/08 09:12

A suggestion for Conitec.

At my work we have a server that delivers taking magazines to
customers each night. Sometimes the server hangs.

We have solved this problem by writing a small applicaiton on
another machine that checks if the servers is up and working.
If its not, email are sent to a couple of emplyoees responsible for the server.
They may then restart the server remotely. In fact they can restart the
server physically by activating an TCP/IP relay and then using Putty
set things up.

This solution has worked very well. In the best of worlds the servers
should not hang - but as we live in a real world they do, and when they
do its always at weekends when no one is there.

Perhaps something for Conitec to consider

Kindly
Roland

Re: Forum Down - 03/25/08 09:39

Sorry for the forum downtime on Sunday and Monday. It was a hardware defect of the forum server. This was probably also the reason for some brief downtimes last week. Due to the holidays 1&1 could not replace the hardware immediately, but it will be fixed today. There may be some final down times today due to the work on the server.

Trust me to sign up just when the server was down for days. I thought it was always like this and was going to ditch gs altogether and go with panda3d

Re: Forum Down - 03/27/08 07:49

I hope this is fixed ASAP. I was only on for about 10 minutes today and I got
the dreaded page not found eror. This is really really really annoying

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 11:27

The new forum system looks fine, it seems like its upgraded.

The only bug i see is no names shown after "by" at the right column-new topics.

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 11:44

I miss the old bright style \:\(
The new one is awful as the topics are written so small...

The standard style shows the postings in ridiculously small font.

I agree. I already have a high monitor resolution, now it makes things that much smaller.

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 11:50

Thanks. That was a fast fix \:D
At least posts are now readable with Gamestudio style.

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 11:59

YEAH new style!!! \:D
but I have got 1 suggestion!!

If you show a code than itīs really really small and you canīt see it \:\(

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 11:59

PANIC!

EDIT:
Also, 'preview' button in 'full post' has no text, and checkboxes have no description.

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 12:04

The font is simply too small (css?)
for the new forumstyle

This makes it hard to read.
Especially since the monitor resolutions become bigger
and not smaller.

There is too much unnecessary stuff in the new ubb forum

Posted By: FBL

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 12:08

Clear your cache, the font should be fixed.
The unnecessary stuff can be removed by doing a simple click in your perferences - the first thing I did \:\)

 Code:
Let's check what the code tag looks like

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 13:47

Warning, Spoiler:
Very important things
 PHP:
echo "hallo";

\:\) \:\( \:D \:o \:\/ ;\)
I really need the old grey-style, and the smilies are to small.

Re: Forum Down - 03/30/08 15:44

the css of code and quote tags needs something like 90% instead of a fixed width.

Re: Forum Down - 03/31/08 06:37

most pms i have ever written seem to be in my inbox again even if i already had deleted them. over a thousand... :p
