Lite-C on a USB stick ?? - 01/27/09 19:49

Could Lite-C be made into a portable application to run from a USB stick or simply from an non-installing folder like FireFox, Blender etc.
Sometimes it's not possible to install software on networked machines (such as on a University's network when you don't have admin rights)

Thanks

you can copy the folder onto an USB stick, no problem at all.

if you are using the licensed (not the free) versions of A7, you must ensure that you and only YOU use the app, otherwise it would be a license violation

Ya, i think your allowed to only install it on "one machine". Not really sure what that means. I think as long as it's on only one machine it doesn't matter how many people use it. For example, if I install it on my home computer, anyone who has access to my computer should be allowed to use it. Although idk, I'm assuming this from what I have read. Then again no one in my house uses a computer for anything other then myspace, aim, and XXX rated sites other then me. smile

You are allowed to run it from a USB stick as long as you don't lend the stick to someone else.

Free Lite-C will not install for me. I don't not have ** administrator rights ** at the University.

(I personally own an A7 Commercial licence that I use exclusively at home)

Thanks.

You should be able to just copy the whole GameStudio folder onto
the ramstick and run it straight off there. It doesnt seem to need
any of the registry entries to perform normnal functions.

I am unsure of the conitec legalities of this though.

But I would be inclined to NOT leave your rego keyfile on it in case
it gets lost/stolen/copied. You would then be responsible for what
is done with that rego details.

[EDIT] Please note, this has been quick tested with A7 Commercial,
not Lite-C Free, so it may not apply.

It's the same with lite-C. You can copy it on a USB stick with no problem at all.
