terrain skinning - 03/21/10 15:28

Hello Developes,
With all due respect - I think there might be a 'bug' in MED - terrain - texture creator.

A terrain can be created (no texture) saved, and put into WED.
It now needs to be altered. change it in MED, re-save, and the 'change' in now in WED - great!!
BUT if it is textured, and saved and I need to alter the texture (in MED) it will not replace the 'old' texture which was saved in the first place!! - although the 'save' screen says it is.
The only way I can change it is to delete the 'old' terrain in the work folder, and make a new one.

Am I doing something wrong? Please help if you can as it is taking up so much time.

Maybe you're editing the terrain in WED and MED at the same time?

If you edit it in MED, make sure that you've closed WED before, or at least don't edit it in WED.

Thanks for your reply and suggestions
When in MED, WED is closed.
A texture is applied to the terrain and saved.
WED is opened and the terrain called up. That's OK, but I now need to alter (or replace)the texture. The terrain is deleted and WED is closed.
MED opened, the terrain called up, selected, and the old texture is deleted. A new texture is applied and saved in 'des. tex' mode, and it appears correctly in the 3D window of MED.
Med is then closed and WED opened, the terrain called up again, but the change in texture does not happen, the 'old' texture is still there!!
WED is closed, and MED opened and the terrain called up. The texture is missing!
There seems to be something not quite right with the save function, it does not replace the old file as it should.
Any help would be appreciated, David

PS

It maybe asking too much, but could you please send the full instructions for changing the texture and saving it?

You must save your model with File->save before closing MED. Then you won't have this problem. And make sure that you were not working on the wrong file.

Thanks Developers,
I have done all you suggest, but still have a problem. If I can get it sorted I'll let you know - it may help someone else.
Again, thanks for your time and patience!
David.
