Question on Physx (A8) - 04/07/10 10:37

Hi JCL,

I have a question regarding the new physics engine in A8 (Physx). I am not up to date on ATI graphics cards (I currently have a Nvidia 6600GT and looking to upgrade it), my question is will A8's Physx work on ATI cards? Do I have to install some drivers or something? I have read on some tech forums that Nvidia disables Physx support when it detects an ATI card but the thing is I am planning to invest in an ATI graphics card? What about Physx hardware acceleration on ATI cards?

PhysX works also on ATI cards, but it has no hardware acceleration.

And even on ATI cards, PhysX is still faster than ODE.

Does the user need to install special drivers to have PhysX work?

According to the beta page, yes for now, no when A8 is officially released.
