Polygon Error

Polygon Error - 01/27/09 04:01

I have an odd issue in MED I need help on. When I try to engine test one of my models in MED, it says Error E1308: Bad Mesh Size (>64K faces). However, when I inspect the model in the mesh reducer, It plainly says that the model has 13,968 faces...so unless the engine is missing a decimal point in there, I don't see what my problem could be...a little help?

Your video card can't take it anymore . Anyway, If your video card is old, Buy a new one!

UUmmm....If gamestudio counts an Nvidia 8800GTX as an old card, i'd like to see what it calls a new card. The video card is not the issue here-its only this specific model that has problems.

model has 53k polys and it loads as it should.(but 53k is way too high for any game model.)

Yes, I knew about the poly count (final goal is about 15K) but how on earth did you get it to load? At worst, I get an error....at best, a blank screen...

Edit: LOL, thats very, very odd...I just checked the copy on my desktop, no go. Still failed...Downloaded the version I uploaded (which WAS the one on my desktop, btw) and tested it...guess what? It works....

Hi!

You may have two copies of the same mdl,
if your using a path for your models and a path for your work directory.

No, thats the wierd thing-I ruled that out...same model, but whatever, it works now, and believe it or not, I have all 53K faces reduced to 12.3K, which is good enough for this game, so...I guess it all turned out for the best. Lets just hope this never crops up again...

using 53k version and 12.3k version, you can create nice normal maps for your model, from hipoly version, it'll be 12k but will lookj way to higher with normal mapping

how to reduce mesh? i have the same problem and still can't make it work
