SED - No Debug watch

SED - No Debug watch - 05/03/10 22:00

Following the tutorial, I get to the part where you set a watch on a variable - except I can't. If I right-lick in the watch window in the command help section at teh botton, nothing happens. if I choose add wtach from the menu, I get a dialogue asking for the variable name. which I type in. nothing appears in the watch window.

I have tried with the script running, and without it running. I run in debug mode, I run in test mode. Nothing makes any difference.

I am running in Vista, as administrator. I have had no other problems with the system. I have tried loading again, same result. Version number in SED is 7.36 - download file says it is 7.8.4.2 - but that maybe is the whole lot, not just SED. ANy ideas anyone? its not much good to me if I can't debug it!

is your variable global or local??

The Debug Watch only works with global variables. With other, it shows 0 or nothing.

Re: SED - No Debug watch - 05/03/10 22:26

I believe it is global - declared at the start of the script...

However, I would expect it to at least come up with the name in the watch window, even if the value was outside its scope? When I say nothing happens, I mean just that - the watch window is completely blank and doesn't respond to right-mouse click in any way. left clicking seems to bring up a windows file selection box - no idea if it should!

The command help is online the manual of gamestudio. You have to click on "Watch" and then add the variable (right mouse click, choose "Add watch" in the menu and type in the name of the variable). Then you should see the value.

Yes. I know thats what should happen - but nothing happens.

However, in desperation I just went back in to document it. And I noticed there was something in the output tab.

No the watch tab does nothing at all, you can't right-click in it and nothing ever appears in it. But the output tab contains the watched variable's name, and value.

This is completely different to the screenshot in the tutorial I am following which has the information shown in the watch tab. Has something changed recently, or do I have a problem? thanks

Mmhhh..
Perhaps you should try debugging with some other tutorial scripts or run it as an administrator.
