MED copy verticies animation???

How can I copy and paste part of an animated model and keep it's animation? It is animated with verticies animation, not bones.

I have a model of a wave and want to make a larger version replicated version for the background.

One way to do so in MED that I can think of is: Move the model within MED, then File --> Merge...and then choose the same model.
