Re: vault Level screens - 08/27/06 14:38

Looks fantastic, tough this time I see more thing i could critize. But of course all small details.

ATM I think your bunker-level is one of the best graphical levels ever created with 3D-Gamestudio. Especially if you see it in real-time.

Re: vault Level screens - 08/27/06 15:07

(gasp) *snaps photo* that looks amazing, one of the most realistic levels I've seen in A6. The bars across pipes on the wall near the bottom don't appear to blend in completely with the rest of the scene, like it hasn't been textured. That's the only crit I have about this level, it's really nice work.

"vault 13" --> ^^ looks more like vault 15

Amazing eye of detail you've got SFMAT4 !!
As TripleX mentioned, your bunker-level could one of the be the best graphical levels made with A6 atm ^^
The textures, models, the effects, the entire look just equals the reality
Btw, are you using sphere ??

Cheers

Re: vault Level screens - 08/27/06 18:03

hey SFMAT4, what do you think about contributing a room to a new techdemo? as you can see here (http://www.coniserver.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/683931/page/0/fpart/all/vc/1), two rooms are still empty. would be cool to have a really good artist like you on the boat.

Re: vault Level screens - 08/27/06 18:22

The only thing that bugs me about the screens is the door in screenshots 3&4. The reason why it bugs me is because this is a very dirty level, lots of damage and grime everywhere, but the door and doorframe is very shiny... it just doesn't fit in my eyes... I could see there being a little bit of shine, but very dim because of dirt.

Very nice work so far though.

Ayrus

Re: vault Level screens - 08/27/06 18:30

Nice screens. I agree with Ayrus in regards to the shiny door/areas. It's esp. apparent in screen 3, and it almost looks like the door is covered with a layer of ice.

wow, very nice, nice to see something without shaders that still looks nice. i love it.

Re: vault Level screens - 08/28/06 07:00

wow, this looks really cool. one thing i'd work on is the repetition of those rusty scratches textures. maybe you use sprites for such and can place them at different places. great job so far

Sure?

The shots look very nice, but the door looks - as already mentioned - strange.
Is this a shader effect?
Posted By: Machinery_Frank

Re: vault Level screens - 08/28/06 09:51

yes. The doors, the door frames and some crates do have shaders.

This is just a place holder shader. I think we will replace this shader in the future or at least will adapt it to make it less shiny.

Re: vault Level screens - 08/28/06 23:52

o, ok, i c, i could have swore i saw someone say there were no shaders, but i think that was when he said they werent using sphere.

Re: vault Level screens - 08/29/06 08:21

thanks for your comments! I will improve your points if possible and suggestive!

And thank you ello for your Shaders!

Re: vault Level screens - 08/29/06 10:09

Beautiful! Still there is something wrong in the level. I dunno exactly what, but I think it has to do with the overal lightning: I'm not a huge fan of this orange sky at the horizon in pic 6, but maybe it's because the contrast is too high with the level. The hall isn't lit by the sunset at all and that makes it look weird.

ps: maybe I'm the only one who thinks so =P

Re: vault Level screens - 08/30/06 08:19

Is this level made out of blocks?

I don't like the camera flare in the last picture. I think they are from the Templates.

But it still looks very, very professional!!!

Re: vault Level screens - 08/30/06 08:30

Very nice screens, but I have also a negative point, the dirt and the damages at the walls.
In shot 3/4/6 you can see that the dirt and the scratches are repeated,
and not being individual. On the first view that is not that remarkable,
but the longer you look at it, the more you recognize it.

Re: vault Level screens - 08/30/06 21:46

I read the comments before I looked at the screenshots. From the comments, I assumed that the vault level would be pretty average work. Much to my suprise, I found the quality to be outstanding. I guess the comments were concentrating on areas that could be improved. All well and good, I guess. But overall, excellent work! Keep it up.

i agree, you should use different textures or maybe take a cleaner wall and add different kind of rust/dirt to it, via sprites for example, even if this is obviously not the best idea to do so...

i woudl reccomend just adding a few more different wals^^

other than that, im not surprised because i know your work, and it never fails to be good^^

Re: vault Level screens - 08/31/06 16:15

Really good work, I like it a lot.
Did you make all the textures yourself?
Posted By: SFMAT4

Re: vault Level screens - 08/31/06 17:25

yes. But I use a few metal textures from noctua grafics as background.

sucks....

Re: vault Level screens - 09/01/06 07:50

Ok just kidding, It's spectacular! Maybe even specular!

I agree about therepeated textures, but maybe if you're just passing through an area like this you may not notice...
otherwise it's looking great! Keep up the good work!

Bluebeast is right, whos going to notice it if your just passing through anyways?

So true, that's exactly why he should get rid of any of the much repeating textures that are infact quite noticable hehehe

My point exactly

Re: vault Level screens - 09/02/06 05:21

in that first hallway shot its not a big deal but its more a problem when our in the warehouses and that one hallway corner shot at the end were you can see it repeat 3 times, the other parts of the hallway are fine, its all bout how many times you can see it repeat, so a large unbroken fully visible wall should have a large texture.

The Textur Problem is fixed

Re: vault Level screens - 09/02/06 13:56

im curious are you using parallax mapping or just diffuse with specular added?

neither. Only a normalmapping shader for a few models. I´ll work on a beetter shader lightning.

Re: vault Level screens - 09/02/06 15:33

i think it looks good already, what you really dont want is that overdone plastic look, that just makes it look too much like your trying to hard instead of using creativity, looks real nice, i like it.

Wow, it is very nice. The only thing I can see is the back part (I forget whats its called) should be more round.

Other than that, its very nice! Very accurate too.

Martin created a few packs for our shop but he is now working for Deck13:

...working on upcoming titles like Venetica:
http://www.venetica-game.com/

They are using Ogre as the renderer and made their own tools for level-editing.
