Hi everybody !

So at the moment we work on a 2D Shooter. It is a kind of Battle Trought Time.
A retro game from the 80`s. Playable is the first level. This level is 90 % finished. In the fullversion we create 10 levels. But in the demo is one level, more not. This game will be a shareware game. Have fun with the first demo.

I can`t understand. I download my game from the server and start with no problems. A friend play it too with no problems. Hmm.....

yeah, its fine for me too, as far as the game goes, keep it up, but either the levels should progress faster or you should make it a bit more challanging, as i found myself quite bored throughout the game, also you may want to changle the parallax scrolling speed, and use tga's to get rid of the ugly black outlines around the sprites :/

win98. i have the suspicion that it's the new engine version. i can hardly get anything to work with the new version, while all prior editions were win98-compatible. on my XP-system, everything runs fine.

Hey, great game!
Lol... the car can jump
good work! very fun!... yeah, I'd add a few more planes or something in the first level, or make it shorter. Even if there are multiple levels and this is the easiest, it's still a bit boring when there aren't any planes around at the moment.
Ideas I had:
-Make one type of plane leave behind one of those big craters when crashing, so that you have to jump that crater.
-Have some tanks standing at the side of the road... not on the road but next to it...
What I like:
-The game makes you look at the sky most of the time, so when there is a crator or rock, you don't see it that easily.
-Everything else ... it really is a great game.
What I dislike

@Germanunkol: Thanks, i must look what for enemies are do in the levels. So today i have 4 planes and a heli. For 10 levels it is not enought. Tanks on the green floor i think it is not bad. He shoot sometimes. But nice to hear, that you like this game.

@Germanunkol: i like your idea with the Tank but i dont know where to drop it because the background is moveing to fast to put a tank there. I am sure Blitzblaster and i find more objects/enemys to make the players life more hard

Current status : i am working on the menue and finetuning the game.

I like it very much, but just 10 levels? These kind of games tend to be pretty addictive, so I'd need 20 at least hehehehe.

I like this game, off course it took me some time to figure out the car could jump, but hey that's probably just me, not instantly recognising the moonpatrol gameplay.

@ all: dont start it directly from the download. Save it First ! Then it will run.

Nice Silkworm Clone.
I remeber it from the Amiga.

You might want to make the Jeeps gun turnabel like in Silkworm.
I remeber, that you could turn the angle of the gun to target the enemies in the air.

@Damocles : nice compare to silkworm and i know that game as well , but this game is based on Battle Throgh Time , of course with some differences.

So in the next 2 1/2 weeks a create in my freetime new graphics and the music for Times Battle. In the next days, you can play an update from the first level.

Really nice.

It seems to work quite well.

But the grass from the background layer should blend better.
The mountains blend quite well with then sky, maybe you can use a tga alpha texture.

There is a engine Bug if you use TGAs with alphachanel in 2D games and have scolling backgrounds. You can set the second backgorund exact next (or behind if you use parralex scolling) to the first one but on some places the first one blends into the second one and if you use shadows on the background they sometimes are visible and sometimes not. It just happens if you use TGA with alpha chanel. I got the same problems with my Moon Patrol remake and fixed it with a material i got from the Wiki Page , just search under ImprovedOverlay but this dosent work here. We need to look for an other solution.

Hi everybody !

So the time is right for the new update.
What is new in the demo ? In the option menu you can handle this:

- you can switch air objects from low to high in the level
- you can switch air bombs on or off
- you can switch floor objects from low to high
and last but not least, you can switch scanline on or off.

New in the level is a tank,a nail carpet and stones.

he mean you can switch on/off , if the Air Bombs are shootable or not , if you select on you get 10 scores for hitting them.

Das Spielmenue is echt edel, die Grafiken schauen verdammt gut aus.

Und im Spiel geht's ja auch schon richtig rund, aber irgendwann waren da hunderte Flugzeuge am Himmel... keine Chance mehr!

very good job!

I had the same problem though. If you don't put planes on very low, there are too many very fast... It's a lot better now than it was before though!!

@Germanunkol thanks your Tank idea was great and we put it in as you can see
now i just have to script the Powerups and the first Level is complete.

You can lower the air planes appear speed but not their limit , for now its unlimited , if you dont shoot the planes it could be there are unlimited planes in the air maybe i should reduce them to maximum of 6 .

Do you have parachuters falling from the planes yet? That might be a cool effeckt... or else mine fields that are hard to see or spike belts (? I can't remember the name... those metal spikes that police puts on the ground in need for speed)...

from left to the screen the player could easyly wait at the left corner and fire at the planes , so i change it and let them come from top to down on the screen , thats better i think

no, from the back of the mountains the fly into position randomly.

my best count is 6020. but this depens a lot when you get the fire ammo. I like the game a lot, and if made right this could gate some very successful thing.
See "Jets and guns" as how this could turn out.

You might want to take a look at the old amiga game "silkworm". It made a lof ot things very right.

Ahh you mean from far behind to near the front , but i changed it now that the planes coming from above to the screen , looks good to me now .

Silkworm for the Amiga was a great game for sure , i will check that again , maybe we get some inspirations .

when can we get more? havent ejoyed a 3dgs game that much for quite some time.

any reason why you dont use 3d models? imagine twirling planes crashing onto the ground. harder to predict and looks a lot better. Parts and particles that burst to the side (so they cant hit the player).

I could also see some bombers and carpet bombing, some dive bombers and more vehicles on the ground.
also some height variation in the ground could make this more interesting.

i am waiting for the next demo

Wow never expected that its possible to get more than 6000 Points in the first level great scoring . (i just played for 2 minutes at all maximum)

I am glad you like this game , thanks again.

you have nice suggestions about this game in 3D and some of them will be done also in 2D , hehe but this is only a 2D project.

Game status : Level 2 - 40 % finished more to come ( every 2 levels a Boss fight )

Looking very good. Great music. Great 3d graphics. Well done!!
The tank's cool.

Ideas/critique: 1) I think it changes to "night" too fast. Just slow that transition down maybe?
2) Anything that explodes... put some depris in there or something. Just don't let it disappear the way you do right now? The wall, the planes, the tank... they all get damaged and then they just disappear. It would look even better if there was something left over afterwards... whether it's a wreck or just pieces lying around...

The darkening of the sky belongs only to the Bossfight , thats the reason why its so fast.

I still favour the Silkworm method more:

The Jeep can alter the angle of the Gun with the up/down arrow keys.
This way the player can shoot planes that are in fron of him.

There is something i need to know , a friend asked me why i made the font so small , so i reworked the Hud and the Font and made the font bigger .

I think the older ones were better, but also better placed inside the HUD. What's the maximum possible score you can get by the way? Perhaps you should reserve a bit more space for the score counter.

I think in the finished game it is possible to get a score about or close to 99999 thats why i made it possible to fit a 6 counted number in the hud.
