Utz Wollewutz - Contest Entry

hello all, now that all the contest entries are named by george, i thought it would be a good idea, to show you my project in showcase 1 too - as it is still a little work in progress.

i have been working on this game from time to time over the last 2 years. it is a marble madness clone, with jump and run elements. "utz" has been casted inside a ball by his mad neighbour "firlefranz" who caught him eating some apples from his tree. now its your turn to find the good sorcerer "mumpelwitz" in the hidden forrest who is the only one who can set you free.

the final version will contain around 30 levels and different world settings. you have to beat each level with a lot of obstacles in a given time. right now iam searching for a publisher, as the game is almost finished.

you will be able to play the contest demo on friday when george will post the links. till then i can show you 4 screenshots from the game(click on them to load the bigger version). greetings!

And the game is meaningful embedded in the frame of a clear story, one can feel with the main character and can feel his motivation to get forward.

I like the names, they are funny and fit with the style and the story.

Are you planning to add unexpected changes of the story while passing the levels?

Nice game, i really like the graphic style of it. Hope it is as much fun as it looks like I think you have some high chance to win the contest ^^.

thanks for the encourages guys, i cant wait to get it finished - the hardest part in finishing a game is when you are 98% done...

well i wont have changes in the story. its just a little arcade game more or less, with a little bit story at the start and end of the game. and maybe between the transition between the levels.

where do you see a shader frazzle the only "shader" i use is a little environment mapping for metal things. i did not like the cartoon shader and all i tried did not work on some systems.

I like this style so much. Berry did a great job, didn't he?

well most of the art in the contest demo was done by myself but thanks that you think berry did it he made the scarecrows, in the 3rd level i think.
the good thing is, that comic art does not require too complex animations/models and skins.

Well I thought, cartoony style --> shader
But it's even better that it looks that great in a cartoony style without any use of a cartoon shader
