fire effect - 06/21/07 01:39

I created a fire effect for a game and I think it turned out real good. It looks a lot more realistic than the last fire effect I made. I put a video on youtube.

i'm guessing it's more the art than the code that makes it look so fantastic, right?

very nice.

I really like it. And I'm picky about my fire effects

You've really captured the shape of flames...

It looks real good. How was it done, animated sprite, particles, or maybe shader?

Well yes, I think, it's shader-powered, right?

Beautiful!

I made a shader for the effect. The fire has about 7 particles at a time (actually models that face the camera) that rise up and fade away.

It looks awesome. cool

Only points of critic would be that it lacks some transparency, outer glow perhaps, perhaps heat distortion and looks a tad too flat... Don't worry though as I'm very critical and it really does look very nice already.
