Good work Scholder.

Last model which you created for me looks fantastic in engine.

Continue with good work.

and one more thing - he is way too simmetrical, especially it is noticable on his nose(looks like a bright seam)

I'm quite surprised that something like that is possible with MED

MED is a good modeling product which is in contradiction with what most user think of it
But it's a great piece of work when done in MED indeed

MED on it's own is indeed quite good. i made some really nice models in it.
the downside is that it takes quite some time longer then with any "proffesional" product.
previously it wasn't that easy to import those models into MED however.
now with the FBX importer i rather tweak models in maya and import them back again. but this is simply because _my_ workflow in Maya is much faster then in MED. I kinda use it as a shameless convertion program rather then a modelling tool (ghehehee, kinda like milkshape, lol).

but i got to say, model looks good, except for the mirroring, even better then what some people can do in 3dsMax or Maya, so good job there!

the issue with med is not its abilities (with the exception of maybe baking lighting) its more an issue of inefficiency. good work can be done with it, it just takes much longer than for example blender or 3ds max. Things like a lack of preset shortcut keys, extrude showing a dialog, cut tool, seam tool, etc, are what keep it back. In all honesty conitec could easily add a couple of small, not to difficult features, to make it closer to some of the better modelers. The big debate is whether its more worth it to upgrade the suite features, or the engine itself, which isnt really on topic. Then again neither was the discussion of MED .

@OP

definately great work, keep it up

Good to see so many MED users coming out and yes, MED is more than capable of building good models, texturing and animating them, its jsut that its workflow is primitive

I'd like to know how the monks were textured though, simple paint job or lightmap applied?

Re: Assassin's Creed-like Model - 02/29/08 05:55

Just a suggestion, if yo ucan produce that with MED, you cant do alot better with something else. I'm very impressed, simply because MED is a terrible modeling program.

Re: Assassin's Creed-like Model - 02/29/08 15:11

I think the problem is more one of personal skill with a program. Someone who has mastered 3dsMAX is not going to be really happy with MED. But if one really got comfortable with MED, the learning curve for another modeler may be so steep that it is easier to stay with what one knows. All programs mentioned are a lot easier than modeling with a text file, and some of us have even done that in the old days.
I think it is safe to say that we see a talented individual here who is doing great work.
