I'd like to name it Jurassic Park but someone have just used the name already. So let's just name it Dino Island(or something)...

Project Name : Dino Island
Engine : Lite-C Free
Project Started : about a week ago
Progress :
-Movement(80%), I'm still thinking if I will use jump or not
-Weaponry(20%), Only shotguns and M4 available, havent done weapon select yet nor the reload system.
-Enemy(50%), raptor AI. Just basic melee AI with ability to attack from side and behind player.











Next things to do:
-bitmap level generator
-another "brute" AI like T-Rex and Trike
-vehicle
-nature scenery(like waterfall, pond, rivers)

I like that the player sees his shadow, this is what most of the newer FPS have. Are you using an invisible "actor" model that casts the shadow, or have you actual coded the player's movement like in a 3ps and just set the cam to the eyes position (how it's done in Crysis, They, FEAR...)?

EDIT: Oh, I see, you've done the latter one (part of the player's head is still visible in front of the cam, maybe you should remove that somehow...)

looks nice, if you looking for more trees, I have a fairly cheap, high detail, low poly tree/forest pack on my website, it's in my signature.

can you , please, make a separate screenshot of a tree from the first screenshot? Looks pretty good, but I don't like the texture of the left arm, maybe because of resolution.... Good luck!

@ The_clown : Actually FEAR does inspired me of the style alot

You mean this? I have to confess that I ripped it form Counter Strike mdl whistle


BTW, the trees give me random error when something collides with them, I used polygon check for the tree... Plus, it looks great from below but not from above, so back to med I guess...

Oh, yeah, thx. Just have no experience of trees and plants modelling, that is exactly what I meant. The problem is that I need the trees to look well from above smile so "back to med" as you say smile

At last... I'm back on my PC after a long wait of new LCD monitor...

You just need lot better 3D art laugh

Some users like Loopix have done great contributions like very good trees to use directly in 3DGS.
For the models , if you search well in Contributions you'll find bettter things for grass and trees, try some sites on the Net, you'll find very good free models also.
Same thing for textures, there are very good ones you can find on the Net for your terrain.

A7 should be selled with quality textures (like Unity engine) instead of 10 years old ones grin
This way we should see lot better Showcase, even made by beginners !

Pretty cool job, but I'm agree with ratchet. You need to work a little harder regards to the graphic. I mean you need smooth graphics, a better illumination and you are good to go.My advice:
1- Focus in the texture of the models.
2-Increase the illumination effects (that will be increase a lot the realism)
3- The environment looks good so far but try to remove the black sharp edges from the sprites.

You can use some screen Shoots from the jungle created for Far Cry 2 as reference. Try that.

Keep working hard you are in the correct path.

Thanks for the support guys, but for the momment, I'll most likely away from my PC... Taking care of some business :lol:
BTW, I think I'll just do the whole level first before brushing up the graphics. Just found another way to wrap the bushes to the terrain... Not Implemented yet...

Oh, and the engine (mine, not Lite C) has a fatal bug, that when I used a stone models it gives me random crash, without error message... I'll upload it nexttime so you guys can help me find the bug...

I've been playing the demo today. Advices:
1- Try to create the raptors close to the floor because they are falling from the sky.
2- Try to make the muzzle flash of the gun no so transparent and try to create a yellow light every time the muzzle flash appear.
3- The animation of the raptors looks good in MED but during the game play they look like robots. Try to use the blend function to make then smooth.
4- Work Hard in the graphic and the illumination.

So far so good. Keep Working Hard. Good job.

Looks good so far, only 2 things I suddenly noticed.

1. The bullets are 1 frame backwards, maybe you should use the proc_late() function at their start (if it still exists).
2. The gun should shake while firing! ^^

i suggest looking at the game carnivores... they did something similar, and one hell of a great job (still one of my alltime favourites :P)

@ all: Thanks for your support but as 3dworld said, I dont think I'll continue this project for a while. The demo contains a source code so I think anyone could continue this project if they feel up to it laugh .

Beside Hi:breed, I'm currently working on a small flash game for some competition... Anyone care to be the beta tester grin ?
