OpenWorld Editor - 02/23/13 15:39

Hey Guys!

I finally made my first public beta version of my Editor!

Also i don't want to say that much, just try it out.

Current Features:
  • WYSIWIG Editor
  • Projects
  • Asset Containers
  • Complete ENTITY property editor
  • Material Editor
  • ...

How to start:
1. Create a new project
2. Add assets to the project (via context menu in the tree view)
3. Add a level (same context menu)
4. Open the level for editing (rightclick the level, click edit)
5. Now use drag'n'drop to add assets to your level
6. Save all projects with click on save

Movement in the level:
Click and hold mouse right. Now you can rotate the camera and move in the level with WASD

You can use assets from different projects / asset containers.
So just create your asset containers to sort all assets (like Comic Characters, Outdoor Models, ...)

Download

Please post all bugs and improvements here laugh

Have fun!

Just a quick impression: Seems to be stable and I really like the "workflow" of the editor (pretty self explanantory).

I hope somebody can use this editor as it seems to be very good.

Nope, not yet...
Also i will provide a custom library to load the project files directly from lite-c. But yes, i will provide WMB-Export as well...

Hm, I don't know how to use it... I set my Gamestudio folder at the beginning, created a new project, clicked create asset->level and everything is black? I also added a model to the asset list, but I can't do anything:

Besides, I can't delete an asset container.

Re: OpenWorld Editor - 02/23/13 19:47

you need to open the level for editing it.
just rightclick the levelfile and then chose "edit"
and what do you mean with "delete an asset container"?
Remove it from the list or remove it from hdd?

Ah, OK!

- It would be cool if you could add regular operations like Undo (CTRL+Z), Duplicate (CTRL+D), Copy and Paste (CTRL+C, +V). It would be good, if you could highlight the arrows as well, wenn hovering with the mouse.
- When moving an object, the object moves faster than the mouse cursor.
- When rotating an object, the axes aren't rotating as well. It would be cool, if you could choose between object axis rotation and world axis rotation.
- The same for scaling; plus, you can't do uniform scaling.
- It would be cool, if you could do screenspace-moving, rotation and scaling.
- It would be nice, if you could add rasterplanes and a snapping option (the object snaps to the grid when you move).

I got the WMB Export working now.
I didn't use the editor myself until now so i will do more progress in the next time wink
@HeelX: What do you mean with "Uniform scaling"?
Clipboard is in progress but it's not that easy. I need to improve my wrapper (Just added the possibility of creating virtual entities (just allocated memory without engine functionality to store entity data or load level informations without entities in the engine)
