Water HLSL work in process.

Water HLSL work in process. - 09/10/04 23:16

Here is a water shader I am working with that runs on ATI's and Nvidia FX video.

Thanks to Ello, I used his code to test this thing out, Oliver, Steempipe, and Alienheretic for all their contributions to understanding shaders.

Here is my revised version of Ello's Glass code setup to test my water shader.

Looks really good, too bad I can't use it. All these things I find really interesting always seem to be in the next update.

I'd like to hope that the next updates were better than the last Looks great Ken!

Great job! This looks promising, can't wait to see a "final" version.

@Nardulus: I played around with the FX composer version of this and the specular reflection bias/exponent seems to make a big difference. Try lower values for larger water surfaces.

I also found this article on gamedev which has some interesting observations:

just wanted to show a result using this:

next thing should be to make it a real reflection using render-to-texture so geometry and models are in, too

This thread is more than a year old (last post: Sep 13 2004), so it's maybe better if you look for another shader o_O

For example this one

Also, shaders don't work with the Warez version of A6 CarryMay.
