I wont say I am going to do this, I only want other people words about the possibility of doom 3 quality.
Somebody on my msn absolutely DONT believe 3dgs can reach doom 3 graphics.

Well, we have alot of features like shaders and if something isn't there you can create it with the SDK.

3dgs can look better than doom. For example, parallax mapping looks much better than doom's bump/normal mapping. The only problem is the fps

hey LS... have your friend take a look at these shots... all done in 3DGS...

... then, he/she can make their own determination.

the ultimate shader thread a few pages back has a lot more info and screenies...

And look also into Showacase I&II, for example the Unreal dancing bot.

just presenting the facts 34L...

i dunno if 3dgs can look as good as or better than DOOM3, as someone above suggested... but if it can't, i think that those screen shots show that it can come pretty darn close...

but, alos as someone has said above, and has been my experience... the performance of all but demo apps seem to suffer.

the cause for this could be...

(1) 3DGS implementation
(2) my shader hardware is low to medium end
(3) something else

of exceptional note is the recent dancing bot demo available in the showcase forums...

the frame rates running it on a GeForce5200 appears to be locked at 60, which is fine enough for any game (read most)... but i really have to wait until more details on how the demo was made is forthcoming...
