Demo for BAGE - 01/24/07 04:24

Hello,
Here is a game I finished about 2 yrs ago using an earlyer version of A6. I didn't know about this cool board, so I didn't post it (or many other games I made in A6 & A5). I hope it's still ok to post a game I completed about 2 yrs ago. By the way, the name of the game is "The Best Arcade Game Ever" (BAGE). I gave it that name for fun, I hope it doesn't offend anyone.

I will check it out, but you shouldnt have posted this in showcase II this belongs in showcase 1 ..here is the rules for posting in showcase II
Quote:

This forum is for ambitious projects in professional quality. This means games that are clearly above amateur level, are suited to sell and have reached a certain state of completion.

* Please post screenshots, videos or downloadable demos. By posting screenshots of Gamestudio projects, you agree that we may use them for advertising, for instance in our GameStudio gallery.
* If you have only been working on your game for a few weeks, please post it in Showcase 1. If you truly feel that your game looks great and is professional, post it in Showcase 2.
* This is a moderated forum- your entry may be moved to a different forum if there is a more appropriate one, or deleted if it does not meet the guidelines.
* When opening a new thread, the title should contain the name of your project, and optionally the release type, e.g.
"Kroko-Mania 3D! - Demo video", "Kroko-Mania 3D! - Demo release", "Reverse the abnormal - Project release"
* When replying: Stick to the original language used and don't mix German/English. Read all previous posts to avoid redundancy. Check your spelling and grammar and contribute something to the post. No "me too"'s !
* Only one thread per game, unless there have been major changes.
* When posting your work here, you expose it to criticism. If you are offended by negative opinions, don't post. When criticizing other peoples's work, don't forget: even making a bad game is a very hard and difficult task.

Re: Demo for BAGE - 01/24/07 05:04

Hello,
I have read the requirements for this forum before posting to it. I have also looked at other games on this forum, and belive BAGE is comparable to many of them in quality, and game play. I also believe it has better playability (what I call fun factor) than many of the games I had paid good money for in stores.

Please see this review by Gamextazy. (I have no affiliation with Gamextazy, and have not asked them to review my game... they did so because they believed it to be fun, and well made as you'll see by their review.)

http://www.gamextazy.com/reviews/the-best-arcade-game-ever.html

I hope you'll enjoy the game, and I understand if you choose to remove it. It is ofcourse your perogative.

Please note, the game uses some fairly interesting algorithms that allows for HUGE (virtually infinite sized) worlds, as it is being dynamically created and destroyed as you explore the worlds. It is also not random, so when you return to the same spot, the buildings, trees, etc will be the same as before. I realize the screen shots may look desceptively simple.

Thanks,
Tom

I like it and tend to disagree with soulblister, this project has a very finished look and especially the last 3 pictures shown here (and a big part of the game) have a professional feel to it. I'd say graphics are a matter of taste and again it's too colorful for my own personal taste, but this game definately looks better than average at least.

Nice gameplay, reminds me a lot of Flatspace, which is good ,

And you have worst things in showwase 2

Quality is hard to define , finished and selling project would be more appropriated for the terms of showcase 2.

Hehehehe don't worry. I have to admit that you are right in a way too (looking at Sphere powered games for example versus this one),

Re: Demo for BAGE - 01/24/07 16:58

i don't mind if you agree , it's game is already selled on internet ,and
the MOST IMPORTANT THING i hope it will be fun when i'll try it

Sorry TheExpert, I meant to agree with PHeMoX. I don't think I would have even commented if I thought it was "crap" or "does not belong". That's for the buyer to decide.

Re: Demo for BAGE - 01/29/07 19:24

Reminds me strongly of "Zone66" . Is it inspired by it ?

Re: Demo for BAGE - 02/01/07 00:35

Aah Epic Megagames rules hehehe. As for the comment there are tons of games like this, even back when or perhaps even before Zone66 was released,

Edit: it does seem Zone66 was one of the first of this particular type of topdown arcade flightsim shooter though,

Re: Demo for BAGE - 02/01/07 15:14

Remove the first two screen shoots, as they are only hurting the game. The last 3 are perfect. I've not played the game but it does look good, defintley belongs in SC2.

I really like the third and fourth screens of the game. Looks very funny to play, and I think it looks finished, not a wip, IMO. Will try it.

Nice work, photontom.

Re: Demo for BAGE - 06/02/07 10:24

Thanks for the nice coments. I have to admit A6 is a great engine to write games with.

The game was inspired by the 80's game "Time Pilot". Never played zone66, but I suspect it's an all way scroller game too.

Sorry about the long response time, just been super busy with work, and various projects.
