Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/05/03 05:01

VULCAN KITE becomes more complete, because Robin our Kite teacher arrives. He will be your guide in this program, to teach you flying a kite. Because you can't feel anything, the infopanel visualize everything you feel on the water with a real kite in your hands. Sure, it's nothing for the Pros , but good for the beginner in that beautiful watersport!
Nice and funny to try it in " VULCAN KITE 3D " kitesimulation !

Very, very, very pretty.

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/05/03 05:36

Very nice, but...

...the tree in the back has no shadow. I think its a model entity. Don't use the "model-shadow", put an none- flag block into the model.

The trainer has a strange mouth!

Hi CD_SABER...

Looking very nice. Great job on the panels but... what does "chickenloop" mean?

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/05/03 05:47

Hm, wasnt there already a topic for your vulcan kite?
Dont open thousands of topics for one project, why not post it in the other one?

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/05/03 05:54

Hi J. Frazer...
Chickenloop is something it comes from the local kiters of Hawaii. Kiting is a very young sport and it's about 4 years ago, that kiting becomes more popular. In that time very professional kiters at hawaii think about how they could have the possibility, to depower the Kite in dangerous situations. This is what you do with the chickenloop. You steel the Kite some power. Because only angry peoples Kite with a minimum power, they called it chickenloop. It's not so easy to explain it for me, hope you understand me.

If things get too "scary" you can use the chickenloop to "chicken out"?

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/05/03 22:57

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/06/03 01:08

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/06/03 01:41

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/06/03 03:01

Hi TAcker...
Kommt Zeit kommt Malen .

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/06/03 22:46

Was hält Mr.Hood eigendlich in der Hand? Nen Baseballschläger?
MfG EX Citer
Edit:
Hab nochmal recherchiert. Das ist der Stiel vom Schirm.

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/06/03 23:17

Hi EX Citer

Really nice job. As has been mentioned the interface looks really cools as well. Oh, and I think the mouth is fine, he just has a Mona Lisa smile.

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/15/03 04:30

Vulcan Kite is looking good, excellent work!

Some requests from an instructor to use the simulator as a safety concept trainer:

If this is just flying the kite on land, that's still good to teach safety.

For example, add a quick release "QR". Have the wind power gust and suddenly lift the student.
The student must QR in time to prevent "lofting" and injury(loose heath points).
Makes the student aware that QR reflexes are important.

Also the differences and consiquences between flying the kite overhead "zennith" (danger/death zone), or keeping the kite low (safe, "keep it LOW and GO") while walking.

For more complexity, have options to select and choose safety gear, for example, helmet, impact vest (like the one the charactor is wearing) gloves, harness release, knife (for emergency cutting of lines), boots, etc.......

Inputs for kiter weight, kite size (m2), and wind strength/direction relative to the shore line would be ideal.
If winds are randomly generated, then the student must select the safest kite size for his weight and wind strength for example.

the younger fasion conscous kiters might want a choice of optional kite pants.

Possible lesson situation:
So for example, the student decides not to wear a helmet, keeps the kite at zennith all the time, then gets lofted in gust, has head injury, then health points go way down. If he wears a helmet, then maybe only loose a few points.
IF he keeps the kite low, then only get dragged on sand a little for example.

When do you plan to release this?
thanks, Dixon

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/15/03 05:30

I'm not a "kiter" but just listening to you guys talk and seeing the screen shots makes me want to try.

The only advice I can give is that you should really work on the "sun flare" effect. Losing the kite into the sun should really mean something.

Ummm... Can you stick to one language in this thread? Sorry to ask and I don't mean to be rude but I saw a rule in one thread here:http://www.conitecserver.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=312241&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

Quote:

When replying: Stick to the original language used and don't mix German/English.

The reason I ask is I don't understand German.

Anyway, nice screenshot.

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 11/15/03 20:30

Hi Dix...
excuse for the late reply, but we are so close in work, that we don't have the time to look every day at the board. You give us some very good ideas
specially the reaction on the QR, so we plan to bring it into VKITE. Most of the other hints we want to have in VKITE. So you can use different Kites for different wind strength. We hope to have it ready for the beginning of next year.

Hi Doug......
you have to try it, Kite-Surfing is one of the beautiful watersport I've ever made in my life ! It's such a great feeling to float over the water with that smal board under your feets and the big power of your kite in your hands.
If you have the time try it !

Tut uns leid !

Re: Robin arrives at " VULCAN KITE " - 12/09/03 16:22

Hi DJ_SPHYX ....
there is no mystery arround our panels ! The CG designer build them as a 3D model in Max and made a good rendering with all the lightning effects we need, to reflect the light out of the 3D scene.
Thats all .If you need more information, please contact "bs@twinbits.de" via mail.
