Aum99 ready - 05/05/11 17:46

Dear friends,

The new magazine is finally ready: Aum99

Since Aum100 is very close, please help me make it the best edition ever by getting involved, sending me your contributions, articles, tutorials, etc - you'll find more info on the main page of Aum99.
I am also working at my own contribution for Aum100, but let's join our forces and make Aum100 really special.

Thank you.
George

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/05/11 18:38

Hi, the rpg level loads with an error message: ffp_terraindetail : action not found, what is the meaning of this? Is there some action attached in the compiled level which is not in the script?
Posted By: painkiller

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/05/11 18:46

I have no problems with rpg level

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/05/11 20:03

Thanks George, it's a pleasure as always laugh

For AUM100 i'll try to contribute with some Next Gen 3D character or some Next Gen 3D asset !

Thanks for this new aun ^^ I have no problem in the rpg

Thank you, George. I like AckBox2D.

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/06/11 09:07

First of all, thank you a lot for the kind comments, guys.

I don't see any error with the rpg level either; nevertheless, since this was a revamped level, it could have an entity that still has that old action attached to it. If this is the case, setting the action to none (x) for that entity will solve the problem for good.

Thank you for getting involved, Ratchet! I look forward to seeing your contribution featured in Aum100.

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/07/11 14:34

hi,george. i guess the codes of player camera-handle should be modified a bit so that let user can view around the CHARA but not only his back.
and thx U george!

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/07/11 19:23

Thank you, guys. Tzw, you've got a good idea, so I'll probably add this option to the camera code as well.

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/07/11 20:50

For AUM100 it would be awesome if you could feature a really nice new ocean water script. Something free, adjustable, good looking, and not hard on the fps.
Posted By: George

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/09/11 10:18

I'm working at something already (not an ocean shader) but if one of our shader experts wants to do this I wouldn't have anything against it laugh
Posted By: tzw

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/09/11 10:37

more detail about what you working at?
Posted By: ratchet

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/09/11 11:42

It was a great ocean shader with waves if i remember well on contribution forums !

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/10/11 05:10

I'd like to keep it secret for now; there's a lot of work involved in it and I might miss the deadline. I'm trying to avoid that, though laugh

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/10/11 09:09

Regarding AUM 100, 5th of June it's deadline, right?
I'm very busy now, but I think I will send you something about PhysX.

And thanks as always for the new AUM.

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/10/11 09:25

Why not pushing the deadLine to 15 ?
Specially for the Issue 100 ?

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/10/11 14:47

Can you contact me George? I might have something really nice to contribute.
But I want to go over some details on it first.

Helghast please, make rag-doll editor laugh

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/10/11 18:29

I'm sorry, but my personal life doesnt allow me much time to work on anything GameStudio related really... I'm working hard in my spare time to finish my iOS game (Using Unity).

So if you really want one, I'd say start building your own wink

My other code i've still laying around (that I wanna share with George, but I need some explanation with it), is almost a complete game... But you'll see wink

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/10/11 18:41

I htink we could have a ragdoll editor really quickly !

Superku have already made the editor for ragdoll, we could use his HitBox editor that allow to create and attach primitives for physic collision !

DrakInferno also had contributed some ragdoll code long time ago !

In fact you just need someone to "glue" these two components laugh

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/11/11 07:43

First of all, thank you a lot for getting involved into Aum100.

@Rojart: I'm sure a PhysX contribution would be very well received by our community - there aren't too many physics-related snippets out there.
@Ratchet: I guess that we can extend the deadline by a few days, provided that you are very close to finishing a contribution for the magazine.
@Helghast: Thank you! I can't send you a PM (you've exceeded your limit) but you can drop me an email at george at acknex dot net.

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/11/11 07:49

@Georges :
In fact i proposed a delay for other people, not specially for me.If all contributors will be ready, no need for delay.

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/13/11 10:21

I have the feeling that AUM 101 won't have any contribution because everyone was like "omfg, I have to do something for AUM 100".
Posted By: Quad

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/13/11 10:39

half of that will be like

omfg... i could not make it on time i will send it to 101.

AUM 100 is important, i follow 3DGS from early A6 version,
and this magazine have always been a pleasure to read and use.
You won't find some such Full of code and examples in a magazines with other engines !

Nevermind if 101 will be more empty , this issue 100 must shine wink

I'm aiming for AUM 200 with my contribution

You know that TUSC will be ready by then, so all our contributions will be useless, right?

Great, so I can stop my efforts right now and do something else? tongue
Posted By: George

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/17/11 10:56

I wouldn't allow TUSC to stop my work; it's clear that game development will be different by the time Aum200 hits the shelves, though laugh

I thought it will be only interesting for programmers. Does it generate artwork too? What about iTUSC?? And TUSC 2.0???? Will TUSC generate a new AUM on a button click?

Oh.
My.

I should retire.

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/24/11 14:24

For those of you that don't know it, TUSC aka The Universal Script Creator was supposed to create all sorts of scripts by only pressing a few buttons. I don't remember who started this project, but I'm still dreaming at it...
Posted By: Pavle

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/24/11 21:12

I can't wait to see how AUM 100 will look like & I'm also very interested to make my own contribution for it:) Since I don't have much time lately I was thinking of contributing some of the Sorcerers geometry, I hope people will find it useful:

Every item will be in original wmp format but also in mdl format with simple AO shadowmap. Switch & doors will be animated:)

Btw if someone can think of some other part of Sorcerers geometry that could be useful to him or to someone else please tell me & I will try to include it:) You can check the Sorcerers demo here: http://www.4shared.com/file/WDJrhNbQ/Sorcerers.html

I wish my project was a bit like TUSC... it's a start at least tongue
All AUM's combined could make for a nice TUSC-like experience though wink

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/25/11 11:18

Thank you a lot, Pavle! You know that I am one of your fans laugh

Helghast, that's a good idea! Maybe somebody can take the various Aum snippets and create a library out of them - that could be TUSC v0.001
Posted By: alibaba

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/25/11 14:15

And convert them to Lite-c!
Posted By: George

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/26/11 16:01

Yes, that would be a great addition, pushing TUSC to v0.002 laugh

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/27/11 18:35

Sorry Georges, but i will not contribute for AUM100 frown
...
bla bla bla ...
...

Forget that , if there is no nuclear disaster, the model will be ready for 30 or 31 of the month laugh
Posted By: George

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/30/11 13:48

That's good news (with the model)! Are you sure that the nuclear disaster was canceled? Just wanted to go out and buy a few more bottles of water...
Posted By: Pavle

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/30/11 16:11

Ups I totally forgot about the deadline:) My contribution will be all finished by tomorrow or a day after. I will mail it in zip form with all necessary 'paperwork' included:)

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/31/11 09:45

I'm also preparing something, I hope I can finish it in the deadline.
Posted By: Quad

Re: Aum99 ready - 05/31/11 10:58

i also have a small addition to aum100, will post it before deadline.
Posted By: Pavle

Re: Aum99 ready - 06/01/11 20:37

Click to reveal..

O.k. my contribution is finished, packed & sent to George:) There are two main folders, one contains the example work & the other one contains the contributed files. Every item (almost every:) is in original wmp format but also in mdl format with simple AO shadowmap.

The example file I created (clicked together from mdl files) is a sort of barbarian courtroom with small cells and a sentencing area:) Since I wanted it to be in the game environment I placed it in the George's RPG Template, behind the player, replacing the big Cave doors. My example file in the templates is in the wmb format but the original wmp file (also present in the folder) consists only of mdl files with external textures. You can, of course, use a wmp file with mdl's or use, as I did, the same file but compiled into wmb:)

Just one more thing: I completed the example in bit of a hurry & tweaked some of the mdl files in the process, so it is advised to use these mdl files and not the ones that are in the 'files' folder.

..after some thinking I decide to enhance my contribution further. However if I fail to deliver the newer version in time, this version will still be available in AUM 100.
