Another A6 user here, though recently I've also done some prototyping in Lite-c.

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 01/04/10 04:36

i have learned so much about what A6 can do in 2009, i really dont want to upgrade yet. besides that, i cant afford it,lol. i am an artist, so MED and WED has been my focus for the years that i had A6, so last year, i focused on SED, i am still feel like a newbie at it, but i have done a lot of converting codes from A5 to A6, so i feel accomplished.

It does has its limits sure. However Many things I
needed for development were removed From A6 onward.
I do own A6 however most of my work is done using
A5.24 due to the Machines that its being developed for.
So I'm happy to work within the limits of A5 for
most of my work!

I'll just leave it at that... wink

there's no reason to update to A7 free at all, since it doesnt cost anything anymore tongue

Don't you have to pay about $700 just to upgrade from A6 to A7?

Yes, but he's talking about A7 Extra.

I see. But A7 Extra doesn't support multiplayer or shaders. Both are very important to many members of this community.

But some people don't need shaders. About multiplayer, they can use GSTNet.
Posted By: Helghast

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 01/07/10 11:00

and you can still use FFP effects, and indeed, GSTNet plugin laugh

How do you get it for free? 'Cos it still costs around 50 euros in the shop...

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 01/28/10 14:05

I'm still using A6. I like the fact that it has a world editor because i cant make a world through code like lite-c. Granted i have a7 and i use a7 templates but i use A6 because i am so used to it.
Posted By: Helghast

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 01/28/10 15:58

A7 has a World Editor as well... Free lite-c and A7 Extra (free) are different things wink the latter came out some weeks ago, lite-c free was around since start of A7.

A6 is fully compatible with A7, you should give it a try laugh

i use A6 too
i have no money to buy A7 and no reason to do it (at the moment)

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 02/08/10 14:40

I still like A6, I played around with A7 but i am used to A6, and just really got the hang of c-script . I think after i complete a project in A6, i may play with lite-c, but just to test. and i have no money to upgrade, lol.

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 02/09/10 16:48

I was using A6 commercial, but I think about moving on to liteC free,
since it almost has more features than A6 commercial has!
it only has no shaders, and a few other things.
so I might move to A7 in an upcoming project

the fact that the liteC free is free is really usefull....
no team editions needed tongue

this is right
the free A7 offers useful features and i´m tend to use lite-c. c-script is extremly limited. always i´m coding in c-script i code like in c but then i wonder how some function do not work. then i see "not more than 4 parameters" for example.

but i also cant disclaim the features of my A6 Com (shaders, no watermark, ...)

i would use another engine (like irrlicht), but, firstly, there i have less experience and secondly i miss the comfort of Acknex (some features i have to implement by myself)

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 02/12/10 17:35

Why take Lite-C free? I guess this will die out soon anyway.

Extra Edition of A7 is now free. Coming with a level editor and still supports C-Script (of course also Lite-C).
Drawback is: no shaders, but still it's a nice present.

Say thanks to Unity wink

I have A7 as well as A6, however I will be working with A6 for a good while now, got a pretty big game going with alot of progress in Cscript. Dont feel like converting everything over and not knowing if my game will work.

it makes sense to use the coding you are comfortable with.

i am comfortable with litec

You can get the A7 Extra Version as free download now.
So It makes more sense to use the newer one for you.

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 02/28/10 17:52

But does A7 accept Delphicode?
Posted By: Cowabanga

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 02/28/10 17:56

Yes, but you have to use a wrapper, you can download it here: http://3dgs.lazydogsoftware.com/

I'll probably stick with A6 since I'm finally getting the hang of it. I'm tired of learning "how"; I just wanna "do". The games I have yet to make can all be done with the tools of A6.
Posted By: Blink

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 03/01/10 18:26

that's how i feel. I think the upgrades of A7 is cool, but I just got used to A6 and c-script.

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 03/02/10 19:22

i am use to A7, but a6 i have more understanding of.

Re: Who is still using A6 here? - 03/08/10 19:10

Since around 2 years, neither i didn't enter this forum nor i used 3dgs - playing some games on pc was all i did.
I did not follow the progress to A7. But i have to reinstall 3DGS - making games was and will be my hobby wink can't end ^^

I will use still A6 - My sorrow is, that i have no overview of the new A7 and the things beside it (script editors, effect-things, ddl, ...) - too mutch for me now.
But A6 will do its job for a round-based-game remembering Age of wonders
OT: .... never though, people like blink or Fireball are still here - great to see u guys, really laugh
