Lots of unique looking 2D games these days.. - 05/08/14 04:31

Thanks to the so-called Indie Revolution and crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo (and Steam Greenlight), we seem to be in the midst of a new Golden Age of 2D and/or retro games. Here's a list of some of the more interesting looking titles I've come across:

Night in the Woods looks great, and thanks for that other link. It should come in handy. I already discovered a game called Witchmarsh from there. It's a nice looking 2D RPG set in the 1920s that appears right up my alley:

This doesn't technically qualify as a 2D game (2.5D and I guess 3D now), but this news from E3 makes me think of classic, 2D adventures from the 90s. It also makes me believe that miracles may exist:

First Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father and now this (on top of all the other remakes, new installments, and new IP that has been coming out of the woodwork since Kickstarter allowed the Old Masters and indies to go around the publishers and bigger studios.

Lastly, here's a retrospective about Grim Fandango for those who never played it or don't even know what it is:
