Hmm.. I still rather PhotoShop elements. Interface is much cleaner, as they had so many people working on it. I have version 7, cost only $200.

As a PSP9 user I say:

pros:
- yay.. a new version, for free
- supports Aero (which PSP9 doesn't)

cons:
- Every action has some lag, even switching tools
- Comes with 'Protexis Licensing Service'

I'll stick with PSP9 because it's much faster and has nearly the same functionality

I agree. Photoshop is just more simpler, easier, and professionalism. I have CS. Waaay too old. But it's better than CS2, CS3 and CS4. (For me.)

It's free! So take it or leave it!

No need for a tool debate.

But when you work on a game , if you can gain time on workflow , i can assure you it's not something you'll not take attention.
some lag on tools : no thanks : and Gimp 2 is free.

@Fireball :
Well advices of people that have experimented the tool is cool caus it avoids you loosing time testing the tool to finally find the cons smile
Anyway like Blender, i stick with Gimp 2 that i like a lot !

oh, gimp 2 has its lags too at times. it be interesting to see a side by side speed comparison working with images with the same resolution and same size brushes/ effects.

I havent use psp10 yet though so i dont know how much it lags.

Maybe a side question: Does X10 being free now mean that the PaintShop series ended / is dead? It sure was a nice tool back in the Jasc days and I even today prefer my PSP8 over Photoshop or GIMP for many many little jobs. It was kinda sad when it was bought by Corel and made into a "photo edit only" software suite...

Enjoy your meal

I still use the Paint Shop Pro 7/8/10 on different machines--all registered.
I skipped the Paint Shop Pro Photo versions. Though, I think I had gotten one with one of my upgrades.

I wanted to know if anyone is using the Corel Draw4?

I am sorry that I never liked Photoshop but all I needed was bmp, gif, jpeg for so many years. I merely want to upgrade for my Vista soon to hopefully be Windows 7 machine. I am still holding onto my oldie but goodies.

So, does anyone use the Corel Draw4?

TIA,
BN

Hi borgNot,
I have been using 'Coral Photo Paint' for textures etc. for 3DGS (works OK in Vista). It's much the same as 'Coral Draw'.
You may be able to download a free old version from the Net
Good luck, David (flavious)

Thnx. I checked it and there was some old advertisement I ran into about it being compatible with the Paintshop Pro which I have all the older versions back to PPS7. So, I will be trying that out.

nice program,i like the workflow. slight learning curve, but seemed easy enough. photoshop is great, but all of the features are a little intimidating at times.

I use Paint Shop Pro X2. I have no problems other than with Alpha channels now and then. Even the .dds Photoshop plugin works with it.

I'm still using my Paint Shop Pro 7... it seems like after 7 they got sluggish. It loads up fast, and does what I need quickly. I also bought Photoshop CS4 but still seem to use PSP more.. again it just has a lighter footprint. The PSP series has always been a decent alternative.
