Looks like releasing game engines for free is a new trend nowadays hehe.

Yeah read about it, will be interested to see what they have to offer, since they are promising more than modding, but not the full toolset?...

I don't have seen any great game made by Indie or lonewolf game makers since UT3 have been delivered for free !

You can have the best engine, if you don't have great ideas and concept, and 3D skills ,and a good game logic programmer you
won't make anything !
This is not the engine that will make the models, textures , animations and level design for you laugh

However having the best engine available from project start is an advantage.

Making good games takes time. Probably longer than the time span since UDK has been released for free.

Regardless, better engine will help you make a better game wink.

Don't really know if UDK (or the up coming Cry Engine Free version) are better than other solutions from an indies point of view in terms of the ease of use during the cycle of making a real game. Time will tell.
