Intense X's future

Intense X's future - 03/12/11 16:42

Hello everyone! Nice to be here again!

So yeah, I'm officially a citizen again. Army sucks, so if it's voluntary in your country, don't go, if it's not, avoid it tongue. Colossal waste of your life.

Now.. About Intense X..

Sadly, I don't have a website anymore:( My host e-mailed me about a month in advance that both the storage and the dns are due but I didn't get to read them until after it was very late. I called them up and they said they literally erased everything from their harddrives as well, so even if I get to upload the website again, my poor forum is lost forever. crazy. But that's not the big issue here.

To be completely honest with you, I'm not sure I want to continue working on Intense X. The real problem is this engine. It's not that it's a bad engine, and it's definitely worth it's money, but there are times that you spend so much time on things that should be easy to create. Mainly I'm referring to the bug that killed Intense X before I went to the army and delayed the release of Silver and Gold for about a year or two. Jcl was very helpful at the time, but obviously he couldn't examine the entire code I've written to pin-point the bug and the engine didn't made it easy to locate it either.

What I wanted to do with Intense X was make a tool that complemented Gamestudio in a way that most engines do it nowadays. Take a big load off the game developing team and also being able to assign the workload of your game equally to both the game designers, the artists and the programmers. With Intense X I envisioned the game designers being able to design the game and every level just by working with panels alone while the programmers (if any) would work on new features that their game required. The point is, designers should only focus on the game itself, programmers should only focus on extending the engine's capabilities and no one should spend time on basic things that the engine that you paid should provide for you, like pathfinding, shaders, weapons, multiplayer, etc. And these basic features should be easy enough to use that a non-programmer should be able to use them. Once I have developed such a tool I was of course inclined to use it to make my own game with it as well.

But you see, that's a lot of work and when I'm not even sure I can fix that memory bug, I don't think I have the time to keep working on this. I'm unemployed now and I'll be looking for a way to get into the video game industry (anyone looking to hire a programmer?:) ) and while doing this I thought I'd try to get my feet wet with an engine that's more widely accepted in the business.

As for Intense X. For starters I'll upload a keygen so that if you've bought it you can still install it now that the website is down. Also, if there's anyone interested I wouldn't mind sharing the whole source with you. Everything is neatly organized for all Intense X editions (copper, silver, gold, platinum), but I still doubt if this will really help anyone. Nothing's worse than working with someone elses source code and on top of that, you'd have to solve the bug problem that literally killed Intense X.

Be back soon,
Aris

Hey Larry, really great that youŽre still alive!! laugh

Please, please send me the whole code! I looked into the code since i bought it and its more than 1 year. I know all the architecture of IX. Please send me the code, so i can look into it. I donŽt think that iŽll find it, but who knows.

Have a good time with other engines laugh I hope your dream comes true and over 10 years of work donŽt gets wasted. laugh

If itŽs possible, can you send the c-script and the lite-c code?

I am really interested in this and i really want it to stay alive!

Re: Intense X's future - 03/13/11 16:06

Good to see you've finally got rid of the army.
Welcome back! laugh
Your project was certainly one of the most ambitious and most progressed project of the forums for the customers of 3DGS.

I would recommend that you make a website again to document it and show it from its best sites, to show its range of features and your skills.

I watched it always with interest, but never bought it, because I don't care for shooting/fighting in games, but I'm looking for AI of immersiv intuitive civil interaction.

And I am still interested in what you've achieved with the different versions of IntenseX.

Re: Intense X's future - 03/13/11 21:41

I didn't use this Engine for years, but I remember that there was a free Pathfinding Solution from you. Is there a way you could re-release it in future? As it is for free, and you don't really know if you will continue working on it at all, would you mind to open the free Pathfinding Soluition as Opensource? I don't mean Intense X, I just mean the Pathfinding. Right now I don't even remember if it was a plugin or just C-Script, but I remember that a lot of people were happy with it when it was released. As said before I don't really use this Engine anymore and I'm just curious how the Engine is developed further that's why I always take a look into this forum. But actually I have some Pathfinding Problems with another Engine, and I'm searching for different sorucecode to take a look into it, and see what could work for me too. Would be really great to take a look into it. But if your answer would be negative, I understand it too, you're the developer laugh

Re: Intense X's future - 03/16/11 00:08

This is a bummer. I continued to follow this project for years even though I had stopped using 3DGS years ago. I believe in entire concept of your project and I have sought out similar products, but no one has quite yet the nail on the head like you have. There's the UDK, but it didn't quite suite the project I wanted to do. Your project would be the one reason for me to even look at 3DGS again as I'm a huge fan of old school shooter games.

I hope your vision can live on in another project in the future. Keep us posted!

EDIT: Wow 1000th post on any forum ever! And it took me what? Almost 6 years?

Re: Intense X's future - 03/19/11 16:55

Could you please open this side again;
http://intense-i.com/key-verification.php
Or a alternative, so we are able to activate IntenseX again?
Please, please....

Re: Intense X's future - 03/19/11 18:54

Thank you all for your support

Here's the download link for the key verification:

http://rapidshare.com/files/453360154/IX_AuthorizationCodeGenerator.exe

I'll soon upload..everything.. You could either rip code snippets that suit your game or try to continue the project. Here's some videos of most Intense X features that have already been developed, if you can manage to work through foreign code and find them. I know it's not easy though, I hate working on other's code because I'll have to spent half the time to get in his 'way of thinking', but if you're up to it I'll do my best to help out when I can.

Re: Intense X's future - 03/30/11 14:39

hy Larry Laffer.
I just wanted to ask what the diffrence of IntenseX Copper and Silver is.
Then befor I tryed to buy Silver, IntenseX was gone grin
But is it true that in IntenseX Silver crowlning (player, enemy)is passable?
Also I heard there would be teams you can set up (I already addet teams to IntenseX Copper, but it didn`t realy work...).

When those futures are true, I would be very interrested in IntenseX Silver.

Re: Intense X's future - 03/31/11 16:16

Larry, long time ago, there was a demo with only one bot (there was even competition to kill it I guess), demo had doom I style, level, enemy model, weapons and so on. Is there anyway for us to get source code of that project? blush Without resources (I do have them anyway wink ), only working script, so we could learn from it and use it. Thank you.

Re: Intense X's future - 05/21/11 15:44

Is IntenseX and Intense Pathfinding 3.1 free and open source now?

I`d like to add it to the Gamestudio Wiki, but I can`t find download links to the binaries and the source code.
Is there a chance to get the stuff? Basically I just need the newest installer versions of both tools, because I already got the keygen.
I think this would be an awesome addition for the GameStudio Tools section: http://www.opserver.de/wiki/index.php/Free_Tools

Could anybody upload the newest versions of the tools and maybe the Standoff Demo to Acknex Unlimited?

I could create an own site for "Let`s work on IntenseX" where people can discuss their progress on bugfixing and enhancing IntenseX and post the newest versions besides some descriptions there. Community patching. IŽve got some ideas from my experiences with Intense Pathfinding 3 how to eventually do this.

Re: Intense X's future - 09/27/11 09:45

Hello everyone!!

Long time no see!! I'm so sorry I disappeared like that and even more, that I didn't end up uploading the full source of Intense X. It's not that I didn't wanted to, it's just that the source folder is so damn big and I didn't have a convenient ftp to upload it at the time.

So, here's the scoop from the last few months... I haven't ported Intense X to a new engine, nor are there any plans to do so... I'm 29 now, I had to find a real job to support me, and as it happens with all new jobs in the beginning, it became pretty demanding. I'm now working with Flash builder 4.5 on desktop/mobile apps that help doctors and medical staff. It sure doesn't give me the same excitement that Intense X did, but at least it pays my bills.

For anyone interested in developing Intense X further, please find me on skype at: "llaffer" or on msn at: "llaffer@intenseillusions.com". or you can send me an e-mail at a.kostakos AT gmail.com . I have an ftp account now, I could upload you everything you need to work with..

MaggotSkin: as of credit, do you mean, mention you in my future projects, or are you interested in getting a refund of Intense X Copper's price? If I were to refund everyone that bought Copper Id go bankrupt and I don't see how Copper failed to deliver on what was promised of it's demo.

Cheers everyone,
Aris
