I have direct X 9c installed.
When I try to open The Lite-C - MED.:

and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience

Hello,

So I just installed Lite-C here and MED works for me. Can you give a little more information about your problem.

1: Where you installed Lite-C, default install?
2: From where are you starting Lite-C MED?
3: Any problems with running the A6 MED?
4: Have you installed the latest February 2007 DirectX?
5: Have you installed the latest drivers for your videocard?

MED does not need the February 2007 DirectX, any DX9 version will suffice. But I'm also interested in the answer to the other questions.

1: Yes Default install
2: From short cut, and manually from C:\Program Files\liteC
by clicking med.exe
3: No A6 Med runs fine
4: No Direct x 9.0c
5: Yes and No.....
I have 2 cards and switch between hardware profiles.
The Ndiva Card yes they are the latest.
With the Ati All in one Wonder: no because
the latest Microsoft drivers dont work for watching TV
and only the Drivers that came on the ATI CD work.

While on the Subject I'll swith over and try the other Video card
in all honest I never thought of that.
Everything else works as is and has for a while.

I'll post back my results later...

Makes no differnce which card is used...
though I found another wierd problem that may help to diagnose
my problem....
when I click a .mdl to open I get a error:

C:\Documents was no found

Am I corect in assuming that Its looking for Med in my
documents folder?
Why is that I have it installed in program files

Am I not suppose to install to program files?
I check in Windows>Folder Options>File Types
and the Program to open .mdl's is located At:
C:\Program Files\liteC

So this leads me back to my question....
Whats going on with my install?

Re: Lite C - Med dosn't work - 02/09/07 11:10

I now tried installing Lite-C on my laptop (with IGP 345M) and used the Catalyst drivers from ATI with some special software to get newer than those provided on the Microsoft Update website. Only something wrong and Lite-C MED kept crashing every time. It worked again after installing the drivers from MS Update.

Maybe what you could try is to completely remove Lite-C and remove old registery entries. I used software for this operation. Also remove any temp files, reboot and default install it again on your system?

Furthermore, when you click on a .mdl and it points to the lite-c folder doesn't mind I guess. That you can change where you associate file types with corresponding application. I'm using the med.exe in the gstudio6 directory. And if I want to open with Lite-C's MED, I open the model from inside the application.

Re: Lite C - Med dosn't work - 02/09/07 17:50

The "C:\documents" message is likely caused by a wrong file association setting. If so, you can open the file type associations in Windows Explorer and fix that setting. MED does not create a file association with "C:\documents".

Check with Video out library you are using with MED - maybe there's the cause for your problem. The setting is under Preferences / Video.

Yes I know about how to fix the associations but as stated above
they are correct which makes the C:\documents error very strange....

I can only assume you are referring to A6's MED?
Because I cant check it with Lite C's Med it it wont load...

I'll try the above uninstalling and deleting registry
once again for the 4th time.

and check those video video out library you mentioned and
post back.

I have 5 option on both 2d and 3d views to many to type all...
I am running gxl2basdx9.dll for both 2d and 3d.
In A6 6.50 latest public update.

Is this what corect is there something particular to look for here?

Ok I complely uninstalled Lite-C.
Deleted the Entire remaining folder from Program files...
Completed purged the registry setting...
and downloaded again.

Guess what...

It still just dosn't work.

Other than to possibly help sort out problems why it wont run
on certain systems.....

I'm really begin to loose any interest in jumping through
all these hoops just to get a program to work.

ensure others don't encounter the same later.

Ok, this looks fine so far. Now, check in your Gamestudio MED which GXL library is set up. Then go to the new MED folder, and delete all other GXL...DLL files (or better do not delete but rename them or move them elsewhere), keeping only the same that you're using with the other MED. Then try starting MED again.

Ok taking extra care to do this right I copied all existing files
dx files to a folder and just copied over into Lite_c:
gxl2basdx9.dll

this is what A6 Med used after that failed I tried adding the others
I copied too in hope that somehow it may need them as well.

Well I can only say 1 good thing:

Med.log is now empty...

But still the same windows crash....

You know the real shame is I was one of the ones that
would have actually considered buy Lite C ...
Never really cared a great deal for A6 but this Lite-C is
another story; this actually interest me.

I just dont understand how and why others can use it
but I cant on this Computer.
If I had my Backup computer I would see real quickly
if was computer specific problem.

Unforunatly I have my backup system lent out to my brother..

Guess there really no need in a (could have been )
possible returning customer to keep ranting.

Re: Lite C - Med still dosn't work... - 02/14/07 13:04

how do you purge the registry entries?
Posted By: jcl

Re: Lite C - Med still dosn't work... - 02/14/07 17:28

You can search in the registry for entries that contain "med.exe", and then remove the key.

However, this is probably not the reason for a MED problem. MED isn't the reason either, as MED obviously works for all other people and the same MED even works on his machine in his Gamestudio installation. So I guess it's something special in his the lite-C installation. When someone else runs into a similar problem we'll might find a common cause - until then I'll have to leave it at that.

Re: Lite C - Med still dosn't work... - 02/16/07 16:37

Teutonicdarkness: Another idea what you could try if you have Gamestudio.

1. Copy the files MED.EXE and MEDEXP.DLL from your Gamestudio folder to a safe place.

2. Copy the files MED.EXE and MEDEXP.DLL from your lite-C folder into your Gamestudio folder.

3. Change into your Gamestudio folder and start MED from there.

If it also crashes, the problem is indeed related to MED (and you should then copy the original MED.EXE and MEDEXP.DLL back).

Yes...
That Actually works.

So what does this mean?
Something else perhaps in lite-C not letting Med run?

just puzzled ..

Wait ... nevermind I clicked about and realized it after clicking
about that it had my name there so somehow its using A6 med even though
I removed it?

Re: Lite C - Med still dosn't work... - 02/17/07 03:54

Ok, then it's definitely not a MED crash (don't worry about your name).

It's obviously something else on your PC. De-install lite-C and MED, then erase the lite-C folder completely, then install MED again and try it. Running a virus test also won't harm.

Is there any other registry settings other than Med7 that I need to be purging?

Though I have done all this several times before...
This is a new beta so I'll try again and test against several different Anti Virus programs

Just to be sure.....

Ok.. I have very, very, throughly scanned my computer with Evertything
thinkable...Uninstalled, deleted folder, pured everything I could find from
registry.

Then I did a fresh download and re-installed.

Still once again it just dosnt work...

Really whish I knew why it dosn't like my computer.???

Re: Lite C - Med still dosn't work... - 02/20/07 02:25

It does like your computer - otherwise it wouldn't run there at all. What it apparently does not like is where you install or run it.

I suggest that you leave it at that and keep the free MED copied in your Gamestudio folder. It's a slightly never version than 6.50, but has all its features, so you can start it from there. Maybe later some other user runs into a similar problem and then we can find out more about the reason.
