3D GameStudio is amazing. - 10/18/08 21:26
Hello all, I am a 3D artist www.ktt3d.com who is new to the forums. I didnt know which thread to properly stop by and introduce myself as well as share my thoughts on 3D GameStudio. So I decided to just post on the first one. Anywhoo.....
1. I want to make my dream game with two other friends and I have been studying C++ for some time now. I decided to take everything one step at a time, learning the fundamentals of C++ with the book "Teach yourself C++ in 21 days". Then move onto learning to code within a game engine.
2. I have spent the last 2 months researching, and going back and forth between game engines like crazy, trying to figure out which one suites my needs. I researched everything from Torque Engine Advanced to Leadwerks, TrueVision 3d, C4, even XNA GameStudio 2.0 etc. And none of them fit my needs at all as far as the programming side of things are concerned. Torques syntax is a nightmare!! I am an artist, and I know there is no way around learning how to program if you want your dream game to become a reality.
3. I came to this site and came across the programming features of 3D GameStudo........ very impressive. Lite-C is like a dream come true for artist's like me. And thats not even the bulk of things. The engine is actually STABLE. It is well put together. Sure I can keep using the unreal engine 3 and do work for other peoples games. But me and my buddies have a draem we want to become a reality. And with 3D World Studio we believe this can happen. We were kind of turned off by the graphics at first. But I see that version 7.5 includes better shaders and normal maps. GI lighting perhaps?
4. But the reason we chose 3D GameStudio is because of it has very good recourses and documentation, which you cant hardly find on any of the other engines. Thats a big no no for people like me, especially trying to learn how to code.
I want to come and express my thanks for such an awsome and stable engine with a great programming tool for artists like me.
