Glad to see you got publishing.
Always nice to see a finished game with 3DGS.. I hope you get the best possible sales and good luck with the future.

The box for the game looks pretty professional, (it's at the bottom of the page, if people don't see it straight away).

Please report back to us soon and let us know how sales go for you.

Good job, Kenneth. I guess that puts all of the negative remarks in their proper place. There's nothing like a publishing deal and a shiny new box to change the subject.

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/01/05 13:45

cool and good luck... but i wouldnt trust xing to much... i think they have a bad rep. went under once and came back as xing.. also ripped some people off of sales... so becareful with them. this could be untrue as i just heard it from others

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/01/05 13:45

Yeah, I like all the good things that are going on. I hope that things keep getting better for me.

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/01/05 13:51

Yeah, great job Ken. But listen to what VPrime said... I've been told the same about Xing. Though it could just be a 3DGS urban legend

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/01/05 13:57

I have not heard anything bad myself. I will hope everything will be ok, I don't want to think on the negative side. Unless something bad happens I don't want to harp on it unless it does.

Thinking on the bad side is one thing, keeping your mind clear and watchful is another. Good luck ken hope to see it here in the united states

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/02/05 06:53

really great job kenneth!

Btw what exactly is the 'urban legend' on Xing interactive? They are kind of interested in my GTA 2 clone (though it's far far from finished yet) , and I thought, why not... Any other recommendations / warnings when it comes to publishers?

Cheers

Yea, congrats, I have also heard the same thing about XING.

Dreams-in-motion has proven very reliable though. I'm sure they could help you out, if xing screws you. www.dreams-in-motion.com

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/02/05 08:32

Congrats Ken,

I hope things work out for you with XING.

It may be a good idea to have some one you trust look over any contracts you may be required to sign.....

I like the box cover...

Awesome job, Kenneth!

Two years on your own to make a game and you proved it can be done! You're an inspiration to all of us. Wish you the best success in sales.

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/04/05 08:17

as i am currently dealing with Xing to about P-Slider i would like to know on what is this urban legend based ?
Is there any one out there that can tell the story from first person or is this legend bases on someone's game that sold badly. just curious.
They got quite a few titles on there name.

As for you Ken i knew you could do it
great work pal

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/06/05 21:57

all i found about xing in a negative way is a line of txt
in aum 15 (thx 3dgs sniper).

Quote:

Is Xing Interactive a publisher that you would recommend to the others?
Why?
A: To be completely honest, I'm not very happy with Xing at this time and I am currently looking into other publishers for upcoming titles.

as i know acidcrow back then personaly it was about bad selling of the game only. Now you can blame a publisher for that for sure but as the quote says he was not happy he is not saying Xing is bad

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/06/05 22:12

Glad to see your getting RtA2 published. I remember when you put up samples of RtA 1 to the public and the 'beating' they gave you, but glad you stuck with it and took it forward. Would like to see some sample demo or Screen shots of your new work as even in your first one, you had done some intresting artwork.

There's allot of people here ( including myself) that can't say they got anything published yet. So your a step ahead of many.

Yeah, you can say that again!

@Realspawn: Anyways, Xing should be ok then? That's good news, since I don't live that far from them, so communication and the like should be going fine and stuff... Now just to get my game(s) finished....

Cheers

Re: Box Cover: Reverse The Abnormal II - 04/07/05 08:50

That's a real nice cover Realspwan, I think I will ask Xing Interactive if they will send me a high rez jpeg photo of my cover as all I have is the link to the low rez photo. Then maybe I can have a large photo made at the photo shop and frame it.

Here's an online discussion between several developers and Xing's Alex DeVries. You can read both sides here and make up your mind.

Best of luck to you guys

Searching the www.gamedev.net forums you will find a lot of posts similar to this one regarding Alex de Vries. Search using his name or his old company name Crystal Interactive. Not all the posts are negative but it seemed as if most of them were.

Quote:

I personally worked with Crystal Interactive Inc (www.crystal-interactive.com). Where Alex de Vries worked as CEO. Any new developer should know that they were thieves, con artists and probably still are.

Alex has left the company (Crystal) with most of the people and formed a new one called Xing Interactive (www.xinginteractive.com). I had chance to read his explanation about things that took place in Crystal. He said that he was “honest” but he couldn’t go over Riza Rachman (owner of Crystal) decisions and that’s the reason he left with people and formed Xing.

This is not true, he lied me about publishing dates, contracts, licensing, box design etc. Many other developers that were contacted by me confirmed that they were not paying them royalties, telling them that there are no sold units, but people emailed them for support?! And so on… some people canceled the contract and Crystal continued to sell, paying them nothing, saying that they have no right for termination – again paying them nothing.

Xing is the same bunch of people minus Riza Rachman. Crystal has bankrupt but the same “team” continue to function.

My advice is to avoid them, if you already work with them ask for every single invoice, and report in written. Don’t believe them. Search Internet for more (search for Crystal, forums, google etc.), they are the same people just with new name.

I am not publisher just developer who learned the dark side of game publishing through them. I can’t say my name or game that was in their hands because of confidentiality clause of the contract. But check the Internet - all those people didn’t write in forums for nothing, or simply think that I am frustrated fool and that Crystal/Xing rulez. You will learn on your skin. Real nightmare.

I know for a fact that Viper Byte (if you remember Winthorpe's Mansion - one of the first titles published using A4/A5) had a bad experience with them.

Personally I have not dealt with Alex so I am just relaying the information that I have found.

I would not want to get involved with him per my research. I would recommend to anyone to do their own research and draw their own conclusions.
