Nysho and the Attack of the Boons - First demo!

Sup home boys! (and girls!)

In the couple of Showcase I posts I've done there have been promises of a demo and I am not a man to go back on my world fair citezens of camelot!

This is my proper send out to publishers demo....maybe, should it pass muster with you lot.

Story information and stuff can be found in the readme file. Press F12 if you want to set up different controls, although Snicks the red devil cat thing will tell you that if you walk up to him in the first level.

P.S. Attacking isn't perfect right now, when attempting to kill a Boon, you should stand a little back when you do it.

IMPORTANT - Currently I'm having to use RapidShare, should any mirrors be arranged I'll post them. However, if you get a normal page when you click the link, go down the bottom, click free and then you will head to the page with the download link on it.

Ok, I just tested it. Pretty good use of the A5 templates, although I would rather use the w,a,s,d keys for 3rd person views. BTW, what are the keys?

Press F12 and you can both see the standard set of keys and you can redefine to your own preferance.

Very nice work. A few bugs but overall it's nice.

Some of the bugs

1) The default controls uses joysticks, my computer doesn't have a joystick hooked up. Maybe you should check for a joystick and change the default controls accordly.

2) Some enemies appear to be unkillable, but it looks like you know that already.

3) After you die a gate you lowered before is back to being raised. You still have the key so why not just leave the gate lowered. Your choice though.

hey, great game glad i was finally able to try it =) i found a bug that hasnt been mentioned before though

when i redefined the keys i have up arrow and down arrow for looking up and down and W and S for movement. But when i tried to move it was changing my view until i looked at hte sky whilst moving and down the the floor whilst moving backwards

Thanks for the feedback! I'm really happy people are enjoying the taste of things to come, I have an affection for this project so its hard to even give people the oppertunity to criticise! BUT seen as you like it, all is good!

I redefined strafe left to the key A but whenever I pressed A it wouldn't strafe. Some of the enemies can't be killed either.

Interesting use of the templates. Nicelly done really.

Thanks for pointing out problems with the user control define stuff. Platform games on the PC have a habit of being spoiled by poor controls so it's important that they can redifined without difficulty. If there are any other problems found with this please post.

Lost, this is a nice game ^^ keep it up!
also i can walk around some walls!! :P that rocked when i figured out
all enemies died by my evil fists :P some were just a little harder cause somehow they can fly :P If i jump, his feet go of the ground while he points up. really cool

Hi Lost, nice little game. Liked the look and feel of it. I mostly used my game pad with it.

Things I didn't like, some gates never lowered until you died. No music. Killing the enemy was a bit hard at times. Models need some work.

Liked, the puzzles platforms and fun Ideas.

10 points for finishing such a nicely put together game.

@Gaurdian - Those things are all getting fixed! Thanks for pointing them out though, means i dont forget them hehe . Oh and the whole game isnt done yet, but it is well on its way! Im replying a bit late havent been on this side of the forum lately. Must mention the creativity is great in this game. Good job.

I get an error when I try to run the demo. Says Start up failure, Can't run Startmenu.wdl

You need to go into the folder and run startmenu.exe , Lost messed up on the shortcut.

And I shall take the punishment like a man!!

nice cartoon style, but it's very slow in my computer when I look straight to the front (maybe to many visible object at a time) and the area is very large and look empty, the texture is a bit large compares to the player size!
the models and animation still needs some works!
and the bubbles tree (bright green tree on wood level) have to many polygon for such kind of trees! maybe replacing them with sprite is enough.
by the way, I like the cartoon style!
