Compatibility with Avast AV - 01/26/15 07:23

Hi, I have been using Zorro for a few weeks and it was just starting to become profitable, but this weekend after restarting my computer for weekly maintenance, I tried to start Zorro, but I got a message from Avast :

" C:\Users\...\00027#ForexConnect.dll
Infection:Win32:Evo-Gen [Susp]
Moved to chest
Process:C:\Users\...\Zorro_Setup"

And after that Zorro would not connect...

I tried to install a new instance of Zorro but I got the same message again from Avast.

I thought to remove Avast and use Defender but Defender refuse to turn on and I see online that many users have this problem with Defender and Windows 8.1 when there is anything remaining from a previous installation of an AV program.

Any advise on how to get Zorro working with Avast?

Ok, guys problem solved...
I eventually could locate Avast virus chest,found the file, removed it from their list of exclusion, uninstalled Zorro, downloaded a new Zorro setup exe,
turned off internet and avast, installed Zorro...
It's now up and running and even resumed the trades from last week still in green!

It's a pity that FXCM has been chosen as Zorro's broker because demos are only valid for a month, and then you start again from scratch...
OANDA would have been a better choice for longer trial.
I could open a micro live account to test it for a few months, but again I wouldn't do that with FXCM.
When is this API for OANDA or another Broker coming?
Thanks

Hi schmurex,

This bit me today too. FYI, my resolution was a little simpler:

* Close Zorro
* Go to the Avast Chest
* Right-click on ForexConnect.dll
* Select the restore and add to exclusion option & confirm
* Restart Zorro
* Reset the Account drop-down from MT4 to FXCM

I assume jcl will confirm there's no virus in the file... laugh

HTH.

As to my knowledge, FXCM demo accounts only expire when there is no trading activity for one month. At least that happens with my accounts. But it may be different from country to country.

Hi JCL

Any update on when we could expect another API for a different broker?

Oanda and IB are planned, but there is no fixed release data yet.
