Lacking ideas about trailing sensitively on tick level.

Maybe some more expereinced developers can give some idea?

I am thinking about start somewhere ATR based far from entry.
I know trailing should fit the basic strategy, just I am a bit missing the proofen best practice in certain enviroments, some entry points to learn more into that direction.

@Andrew, I tried Chandelier, just I am missing imagination, maybe you have some approach to start with?

So then this is a question about (trailing) stop losses?

I have to experiment with every system that I make, so see which type of stop loss appears to be the most appropriate.

Take, for example, my stock system. It is extremely passive as far as monitoring individual trades and places far more emphasis on the health on the overall system. But if the overall system takes a hit, then the risk management kicks in hard and closes losing positions. I just happen to know that this works for my system, and I cannot comment on how well this would work for yours.

There's also a book I read, Systematic Trading by Robert Carver. He actually recommends using volatility normalization, especially for risk management and also to standardize position sizing across varying asset types (something that can be critical for diversified futures trading). I might have a futures system modeled after this within a year.

That is a funny co-incidence, just yesterday I decided to buy "Leveraged Trading: A professional approach to trading FX, stocks on margin, CFDs, spread bets and futures for all traders" by Robert Carver.

How do you determine "system receives a hit"? You go into phantom mode once which kind of hit happens?
Maybe a 50% overall equity loss?

He has some good books, indeed. I heard about him through a prop trader. You?

It is an optimized value, the percentage of equity drawdown since the last stock rotation. I only close losing positions (not winning positions - they can keep running in my favor).

Sadly I don't know any traders, so I search the net, and read and study.

My wife and I read together, so I search the deepest corners of the net, trying to find ideas, thoughts and all that, which with my limited dev skills can be developed.
I keep my eyes open for book references.

So finding his books suggested here and there (uncorrelated blogs) makes my decision to go with it.

He got some funny reference in LT, go short a house, lend it, sell it, buy it back laugh
I will read ST too after...

My wife couldn't care less about trading, finance, and programming. She calls it "nerdy stuff". grin

It's a dense book, but highly worth comprehending it in its entirety.
