Zorro Benchmark - Let's compare our CPUs!

Zorro Benchmark - Let's compare our CPUs! - 09/24/21 11:47

I'm thinking about a CPU Upgrade (preferably cheap, maybe some older CPU from Ebay), and I'm looking for fast single core performance in Zorro. Maybe others are interested, so let's do our own community benchmark!

Just run a full training with the built-in Workshop6 script and enter your data into this spreadsheet:

Edit: Please make sure you comment out

NumCores = -2; (or set it to 1)

for Single Core Benchmark (I guess everybody will be able to just divide the time needed by he number of Cores used.

Thanks for everybody taking part in this!

Originally ran it as is in Zorro (Non S), ran it again with the NumCores commented out in Zorro (Non S) and still same result. smile

Did this just for in case somehow it was using multiple cores even though normal Zorro does not support it.

Impressive. I asked because I tested it on a Ryzen R5 from the 3000 Series and got a really disappointing result, only slightly better than my i7-2600. However, I saw that the CPU is throttling most of the time when I checked with CPU-Z.

Looks like Megahertz is all that's counting for single core.

The R5 must have been benchmarked with multicore, it's way off.

The R5 3400G is ran on a beefy X570 with very good VRMS, doesn't hit power limits and doesn't throttle. But if I did something wrong I would like to explore this further. Here is some screenshots of Workshop6 running and afterwards:

Did a fresh install of Zorro 2.40 Non S and ran the benchmark again. CPU never went over 15% utilization.

Also commented out "NumCores = -2; (or set it to 1)"

I think I know what's going on:

After installing a fresh copy of Zorro Beta 2.42, my CPU finished the task after half the time. When I looked into the history folder I found, that only EURUSD Data is available. So the script just skipped the USDJPY optimization run. Maybe this wasn't a clever Idea to use Workshop6 as a benchmark.
