Static shadows on models

Static shadows on models - 03/17/09 18:03

Hi all,

I read that there would be static shadows enabled for terrains in the next 3dgs update a.k.a A7.77. That would indeed be awesome, but lets assume I've got a nice terrain, but I wanted a more detailed rock at a sertain location, and created this by using models. Wouldn't it be cool if static shadows also work on non-moveable models, by setting some sort of flag in WED? I know this might take up some time, but this would mean our levels could get more detailed fast and we don't need to bake lights outside of 3dgs anymore (Mystymoods or some sort of modeling program like Blender).

Use a block for the rock. Models are intended for moving or animated objects, which naturally throw no static shadows.

Thanks jlc, but I think models would add a lot more detail. Will use levelblocks for the time being. thanks again.

What has models to do with lot more details? The only difference is that models move and have actions and blocks dont.

Models are easier to mold wink

It does not matter if you make it in WED or MED. It only matters that it's a block, i.e. part of the level geometry, and not an entity.
