Chat Room for Zorro Programmers

We need a chat room for Zorro programmers. (Maybe a beginner room and an advanced room). This accomplishes all of the goals of this message board except in a much more fluid manner and keeps people better connected. I think it would lower the barrier to entry for new programmers like myself. (Which would lead to a growing community of Zorro programmers, more money, better programs, better strategies, and did I mention more money!)


NOW-- someone needs to create it: I feel like it should be the Admins but if not, someone high up in the community. Ideally it could be added simply to this website but that's not necessary.

More money sounds always very good, but we already had a chat room - not for Zorro, but for Gamestudio, but this is very similar. It was closed some years ago due to lack of chats. But if you want to create a new one, I'll add the link to the forum menu.

I'm starting to get the feeling I'm studying sanskrit...
Perhaps the barrier to entry will be too great and I should go with an inferior language with more users to learn from...

JerryS, I understand your frustration. I have little time to experiment. Most of the Zorro's user are way better than me in programming and the community is not huge so the chance to get quick, complete and exhaustive answers is lower than on Mql forum, just to say a name

On the other hand, please take into consideration that you have little alternatives if you are on the algorithmic trading path.
The main alternatives are: tradestation and Multicharts none of them are free. Forget MQL for algorithmic trading.

So I hope that you will join the Zorro's community even there is an initial "entry fee" that have to be paid.

Thanks MatPed I'm still trying... If those materials and courses were available I really think it would be incredible what could be accomplished though. If I make money using this system, I'll pay someone to do so, because I'm a scientist and believe in progress in any field I'm studying, and that requires a collaborative environment.

I have actually written a fairly detailed training course on using Zorro for automated trading. It consists of 4 levels, each of increasing complexity. I am in the process of delivering the Level 1 course to my first students. The course is being delivered across 2 days of lectures and 4 weeks of tutorials; we completed the 3rd tutorial this week.

The students have made amazing progress with Zorro - some had never done any coding prior to doing the course. In addition to the lectures and tutorials, the students receive a detailed manual, source code examples and around a dozen example strategies that can be used for demonstration purposes and for building upon.

I am considering offering an online version of the course via my website, but wanted to gauge the level of interest first. It would not be a free offering, which may not be aligned with the needs of the community here. If so, no hard feelings, I will continue to offer whatever support I can via the forums.

Let me know if this is something you might be interested in. I will also ask my current students to sign up to the forum and post some feedback about the Level 1 course.

JerryS, I also have a science background. I worked across multiple engineering disciplines for over a decade before getting into finance full time. I now manage the algorithmic division for a boutique hedge fund in Australia. Only 6 years ago, I'd never written a line of code in my life. Don't give up on Zorro - there is a lot to learn, but it is very achievable and very worthwhile. There is no other strategy development platform out there that can match what Zorro does.

I created a test chat room with Ryver, but I thinks it is "too complicated", as you whould have to keep another app open all the time.

I rather would prefer a simple chat and referencing back to this forum, in case there is something more substantial to discuss.

Hi Everyone,

I am pretty new here, recently came across Zorro and I am very keen to start building some trading bots with it to see what it can really do. I don't have tonnes of experience building bots, tried my hand at metatrader EAs possible over 10-15 years ago, but nothing since that, so I will ask you to pardon my dumb questions from time to time.

I am most interested in options, cfds and currency trading.

Aside from trading, I am dad with one beautiful little girl and and little a boy on the way, so for multiple reasons I am very excited about the future. I'm also an eternal optimist and hence my support for Arsenal Football club.
