paid item twice on ebay with paypal - 01/28/08 07:11

Purchased a item on Ebay for a Roland keyboard (expansion card) from a seller in the states. And paid the required amount + 10 dollar shipping. Next day the seller requested another 28dollar for overseas shipping to my country.

He asked if I could pay the amount to his Paypal email address. I logged into Paypal and entered the email address, the amount 28 dollar, but then a little lower there where two fields. I selected Ebay item and entered my ebay account name and the object number. Because I thought this was required to provide proof later on that you paid for that object and not 28 dollars for something else.

In the comment tag I also wrote hereby I send you the 28 dollars for shipping. Then I press send money and thought it was all okay, but huh what? The amount paid was not 28 dollar, but the price for the item 180 dollar. So now I paid not 180+28 dollar, but 2x180 dollar Stupid mistake from me of course..

Now after I send the seller a email requesting the money paid to much back. I don't hear anything from him. Not even hey we are shipping your item. I included all details from payments and asked if he could substract the 28 dollars from the 180 dollar that I send and send the money paid to much back to my Paypal account after accepting it.

What are my steps now? Should I warn the seller today? I mean send him a email again, asking the money back that I paid to much. Should I wait until this day is over and tomorrow contact Paypal, Ebay? My credit card company? The seller is on Ebay since 2005 and has 98%positive comments. So he looked trustworthy to me.
