Kidscreen Summit - 02/13/08 17:31

The Kidscreen Summit http://www.kidscreensummit.com/index.php starts today. The company I work for is there and pitching original content including my first children's show. I'll either be ecstatic or emotionally devastated over the next three days. I'll post show and character info when I know it's ok to do so. Wish me luck.

I'm working on two more children's show pitches which we'll present in two weeks. I hope to pitch every month while they are still eager for content and hopefully a few of the shows will get picked up.

One day left! Can't wait to hear how it turns out!

Maybe, we can get a glimpse on what it is like!
At least, you could explain what sort of show it is?
Is it a concept of a sort of game show, weekly...?

Tomorrow I find out how things went. Nervous. I'm guessing it might be unlikely they met and signed a contract on the spot, more likely they either got or didn't get some interest -I honestly don't know as I've never been at these events.

I can say it is a kids show in what I think is a pretty unique setting. My original concept was a feature film, I modified it to fit the weekly show format they were looking for, then further modified it for the pitch to the education channels our industry consultant suggested. The writers did a great job enriching my original idea and we also brought a science consultant on board. They could hate it or be totally uninterested so my gut is being tied in knots -which is why I'm at the keyboard instead of sleeping when I'll be getting ready for work in a few hours. Going to try to chill and get some sleep. I'll let you know how it goes.

This sounds as if you already got a fantastic environment to get a base for your ideas!
Your ideas will make it then, in case this current idea won't succeed now, one of your ideas will eventually make it, sooner or later!

Good Luck Burt!!!

That would be cool if your group can close a deal that quickly. Just getting the chance to pitch your own idea is still an awesome acheivement. Props to you.

I hope you get great news....

Wow Burt, that's amazing! You mean we'll be able to watch you on cable TV between cartoons?

Break a leg!

Hi. Still haven't heard more than a bit here and there. The shows were pitched and apparently PBS Kids and a few other networks were interested in the company - but no sales as far as I know. Monday is meeting day at Animax and I hope to get a full report. So I am not on the fast track to fame and fortune yet -guess it's not really a big surprise but I was hoping for the one in a million shot. The execs have been giving tours of the studio most of the week according to my co-workers - various companies they apparently met at the conference. It could just be courtesy or something could come of it. I don't have enough info yet.

That's it. The whole family has had the flu for the past few days so I've been working from home. As a result we rescheduled our next two pitches for a week from now (it'll be good to have the additional time actually). If I can stop coughing up my lungs I'll finish up the documents for them this weekend.
