Mweh, the interface isn't really my thing. JavaScript engine is quite fast though

Re: google chrome - 09/03/08 21:29

I don't have a need for it either, but it's always nice to hear google is still inventing new things.

Re: google chrome - 09/03/08 21:29

Wow , this is the last site i been on to start a thread about this.

Re: google chrome - 09/03/08 21:49

I like it (for the most part). It very, very fast compared to both Firefox and IE.

Re: google chrome - 09/03/08 21:59

Yeah, I like it a lot also. I hope to see mouse gestures though.. I'm hooked on using those.

Re: google chrome - 09/04/08 02:43

eh i tried it yesterday, not bad, better than ie, but i still prefer firefox 3. for some reason chrome wont allow me to middle click and drag to scroll on pages, which is what i usually use, also my friend noticed there is no way to have if automatically delete the history (that we could find).

Surf incognito. When you surf in incognito mode no history is recored and all cookies (from the time you were surfing in this mode) are deleted.

Re: google chrome - 09/04/08 04:52

how do you do that?
Posted By: JibbSmart

Re: google chrome - 09/04/08 05:24

Ctrl+Shift+N to make a new window in Incognito Mode.

chrome is pretty groovy.

i like its minimalist approach.

EDIT: one thing i really like is that i can drag tabs from firefox to chrome.

Waiting for a linux version...

Re: google chrome - 09/04/08 06:51

and i hoped this would not pop up here. this chrome is pure nonsense. nothing new, nothing better, nothing needed.

Re: google chrome - 09/04/08 18:09

in fact, everything seems to be new. (the internal "chrome process system.")

see: http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/

i am still gonig with ff3.

Re: google chrome - 09/04/08 18:24

...there are just no new function visible for the user, but intern a lot is managed different from other browsers. on my pc it doesn't run as fast as ff, but I really like it's interface. especially the 'omnibox' and that autmomatically adding search engines. But I just hate it's text-selection^^

That can't be right as it's using an older version of the core backbone of Safari... there's even a bug in Chrome now that still makes a weakness of that backbone exploitable.

So... the interface may be new and it may be fast, but I am still holding of this boat for a little longer,

Cheers

...and safari uses apples webkit which is based on khtml which has been the html rendering engine in konqueror (kde) for sooo long. so google is porting linux software to windows, what a revolution.

Re: google chrome - 09/04/08 20:00

Lol, if you put it like that, then yes. grin

how is it porting linux software? chrome uses webkit as well. for me it opens faster than ff3, and i prefer the chrome interface as well.

i've never used safari but apparently it has a lot of features unseen in other browsers.

Re: google chrome - 09/05/08 02:47

I am beginning to think that the browser will become good, but right now it has to fix its share of cons(security problems like a suseptibility to carpet-bombing attacks and DoC vulnerability)

But for right now I like it, mainly for what I think it has for potential. It is very fast, which is a major plus for me.
some intial speed tests

Re: google chrome - 09/05/08 02:54

I think this browser is not suitable for kids with the pr0n mode. In any case i'd like FF3 and stay with that for now.

Re: google chrome - 09/16/08 20:41

Google chrome is not new; the code base is WebKit and they used some code from Firefox.

Re: google chrome - 09/16/08 21:22

every 3dgs game isn't new because it's based on a DevelopmentKit (3DGS which also relys on DirectX etc.).
No one would think about "not new" if Chrome hadn't been developed by Google.

So Why the hell is Chrome the fastest browser in the most tests if it contains "nothing" new?
Posted By: bstudio

Re: google chrome - 09/16/08 21:35

Well, the whole javascript engine was custom made (it's now a javascript virtual machine) and thus quicker than the one currently used by FF

Hey now come on, you got to be joking here, Google is not Microsoft. I did not mean to imply that there's "nothing" new in Chrome, but instead for now , even despite it's better performance, it's just not a switch-worthy application,

Cheers

I'm refering to MaxF smile I tested Chrome myself yesterday. Very nice program, but sadly I'm a little bit concered about the data protection (altough you have to admit that they inform their users very frankly to the data their're transfering to google (http://www.google.com/intl/com/privacypolicy.html)

Reason it is fast is because of Google V8 JS Engine, which was built my Google, plus you can take C++ code and optimize it to speed up!

Re: google chrome - 09/17/08 22:47

So, they do have new stuff added. wink

Re: google chrome - 09/17/08 23:21

Well to me its just another browser, just made it a bit better nothing more smile

Re: google chrome - 09/18/08 04:47

One of the most impressive features in Google’s open source Chrome web browser is V8, a high-performance JavaScript virtual machine that was developed by a team of specialists in Denmark. Although Chrome’s performance beats the current stable version of Firefox, benchmarks show that Mozilla’s next-generation JavaScript engine actually outperforms V8.

New Firefox faster then V8

Re: google chrome - 09/18/08 13:32

i'm still not convinced of FF3, the interface runs much slower and i sometimes get "hang times", split seconds, where i cannot click or do anything, it seems that the application has crashed. though on linux, it works nicely.
