His biography looks like he could be indeed ambitious, idealistic and energetic enough to cause some changes. But unfortunately he also inherits a huge pile of debts and contracts he has to handle. So there are some very serious barriers for changes.

But I wish you and the entire world much luck. And I wish us all peace and no more economical caused wars in the world.

Color of skin is no garanty for a serious political leader. Even if MTV is telling you that beeing a black person would be idealistic. Ösi-Adolf played the same game with the white race.

Re: Barack Obama, USA's new president! - 11/05/08 08:56

Well it is a reason for me (and no, i didn't watch MTV for ages ;)). It's good to have a young president IMO, it will give it some fresh air. And i saw a documentary where they asked people who should become president. Especially the black people said "Obama will never become president cause he is black, and if you were in the usa, you would know what it is like to be black". So i'm twice as happy that he became a president smile The next one should be a woman.

I just hope Obama will go for world peace as his first mission. Since he is himself a multi-cultured multi-ethnic guy, he will surely value the importance of unity n friendship among all fellow world inhabitants.

Both Obama and McCain are just prop men for the global elite and their New World Order. And I think they know some of the script too. wink

But the concensus of "the powers that be" wanted and called for Obama to win by their script. And now expect accerelated and intensifying steps towards the New World Order.
And also before its set up: more and deeper economic collapses, more civil unrest and riots,
the coming Martial Law, and the grand opening of Fema and labor camps near you. And possibly the move ahead of schedule for the coming World War III.
The real Fallout 3. frown

But despite who the winner would be, Bush will be the last elected and inaugurated president of the United States. And will become the Iron Eagle.

I did not care about his skin color. It matters if he has good intentions. And it looks that way. His speaking is great. And he proved in the past that he could perfectly moderate between opposing groups. His skin is half white and half black and so is his attitude. At least it looks like that. He could not only moderate between black and white but also between states, nations and cultures.

At least this would be a good mission.

Yes. I agree alpha_strike. Here is what he promised:

- middle-class tax cuts
- investing in early childhood education
- investing in alternative fuels and renewable energy
- refusing to take donations from lobbyists
- reducing health care costs for families
- increased security measures for our airports, ports...
- will refocus military resources on al Qaeda in Afghanistan
- will eliminate income taxes for seniors
- equal pay for equal work (women)
- expanding the childcare tax credit

This all costs money and not a single point mentioned will bring additional money to fund such projects. We will see if all this is just another fairy tell to catch some votes.

Did you remember the German elections? CDU told to raise the vat to 18 percent. SPD said there will be no raise at all. Then both built a coalition and raised it to 19 percent. Both lied to us and we did not punish them for this behavior.

Why do you call him Afro-American? He has a white mother. She is not related to Africa. Is he still Afro-American? I think he is just an American, at my mind this has nothing to do with Africa.

As far as i know he is always mentioned as "first afroamerican president in the united states of america". Actually for me it was just a more repective way to say "black", or some other people say "neger". That' it.

But he is not black, he is half black and half white. Why should he fall into black category? Some other could say he is white then.

Re: Barack Obama, USA's new president! - 11/05/08 11:12

His father is a Kenyan, his mother is white, his ancestors were no slaves, so he is just black, but not an Afro-American, more an African immigrant, and that is even not true, because he was born and raised in the USA.

Whatever. I just read it like this.

For examples:

Quote:

55% of White Americans classify Obma as biracial when they are told that he has a white mother, while 66% of African Americans consider him black.("Williams/Zogby Poll: Americans' Attitudes Changing Towards Multiracial Candidates", BBSNews.com (2006-12-22). Retrieved on 2007-09-23.) Obama describes himself as "black" or "African American", using both terms interchangeably ("Transcript excerpt: Senator Barack Obama on Sixty Minutes", CBS News (2007=02-11). Retrieved on 2008-01-29.)

He is always what people see in him. And as he is not white, he must be black. You're right, he is a not really black at all. He also has some typical white but also typical black facial features.

Re: Barack Obama, USA's new president! - 11/05/08 11:21

Technically we could call him a biracial crossbreed. But if he wants to be called black then we can do so. Maybe the society around him forced him to be black instead of white or multi-cultural.

But now we will watch and see if he keeps his promises.

Re: Barack Obama, USA's new president! - 11/05/08 11:22

Um.. What I meant with "Black president" was that the guy isn't completely white and completely American. It's great that the country was able to let the "nigga" (as stated in an other forum post) get to as high as presidential position.

I didn't expect that there would be another argue whether he is or isn't black. What does it matter in the end. It matters in one way though. He's the first non-white president. It's huge step for USA.

Now. I wish him good presidential career, may he keep the promises he intended to keep.

For several people (also in the US) someone is considered black, even if he's half white and half black.

Maybe compare it to some chancellor candidate Germany whose ancestors are half german and half turks. Several Germans would have a problem with that - for sure!

The program is idealized, no doubt.
Obama however has charisma, he has proven to be able of holding very good speeches.
His job won't be easy at all, and for sure he can't accomplish EVERYTHING. If he just helps to calm down everyhting a bit, then that's already a good thing.
We'll see.

Re: Barack Obama, USA's new president! - 11/05/08 13:06

As expected the democrats receive the presidency during economic downturn,
and the republicans will receive the presidency during economic hight.

The reason: during the downturn or expected downturn, people vote
for "left" policy of substitutions for poorer people and tax reductions for
poorer people, and higher taxes for richer people.

At economic hight (where general taxes are high, and
the labour marked has more restrictions), people will opt for right wing policy
of reducing general taxes for everyone and loosen the
government restrictions on the labour market.
(such as fiering policy)

So Barack Obama beeing elected president is a good indicator that we
have an econimical crisis (not just in the US).

Currently the economical crisis is only in the heads of the people. But it will become real because they all "believe" in this upcoming crisis. Companies will delay their investments, expect lower sales, consumers will delay some shopping.

It is a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is the price for such a good world-wide communication. We all will suffer it at the same time.

Re: Barack Obama, USA's new president! - 11/05/08 13:21

But so is often economical upturn just a product of peoples
imagination.
they expect a steep growth of the markets and their wealth.
They invest into project fot the future, -on credit- and dont
save so much.

Everyone is purchasing and investing more.
A typical bubble arises.
In the end the economy grows unhealthyly fast.
(too many investments in not needed capital goods and markets, and overspending on credit for
consumer goods, low savings)

Its as bad a deperession coming from expectations.

(-> Keynes model of anticyclical govenrment
actions/interventions is still valid as in the 30s)

And to Obama: I dont think he would be elected in any
European country. The top candidates here need
to present their stance differently than in the US.

McCain didn't have a good plan to solve the economic issues, he wanted to continue war even though the US really can't afford it. For voters there really should be plenty of reasons why to vote for Obama instead.

The only thing hugely bothering me, is that he's looked upon as a Messiah. He's said already he won't be a perfect president, but if he's not able to solve the economic issues (which is likely to be honest, such things take time).. then the Republicans will be in the Whitehouse 4 years from now.

By the way, is it just me or do voters seem to be more likely to punish Democratic presidents when things go wrong, looking at when Bush got re-elected...

The whole idea that this came 'without warnings' is bullsht though. To some extent we can blame the Iraq war, overspending and the mortgage markets in not only America, but in the end it's just another indication that capitalism isn't flawless.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no communist, but it's terribly ignorant to think things like 'we couldn't have predicted this happening'. In fact, the crisis is more or less right 'on time' looking at history.

It will not work and did not work. The government is always to slow, too late, invests in many cases in the wrong field and delays the structural change. Government should spend protection, law and security but not interact into economy.

Here in Germany the government offers help to the banking industry (they call it a "rescue package").
They offer billions of security money. Now the banks are accepting this money to secure their future investments for the next 2 years. This is not a rescue package anymore. It is a deep intervention into economical processes. And it is paid from taxes, all Germans could pay now to ease the life of rich bank managers.

It is just an example that government should not interfere into economy.

Yes, we would have elected him but he had no chance to become a candidate that fast. He had to go through his party for a long time and they would break his enthusiasm very fast. The result is an old embittered woman like Merkel in Germany, only attacking other parties instead of doing something useful.

I'm hopeful. I did fire off an email to the Democratic Party to congratulate them but to let them know that for most of us the vote was not for the DP but for change and doing things in a better way. If they start playing the same old games, punishing Republicans and refusing to work in a bipartisan way in the hopes of retaining power - instead of doing the people's business- I am frustrated enough that I'll support any legal way of holding their feet to the fire including recalls.

One analyst I heard this morning said exactly that - it is likely the Republicans will be nice (at the start at least), because of this historic victory and for other reasons but that the problem may be from some of his own party who will not embrace his expected efforts to cross the aisle and work in a bipartisan fashion; Instead they may focus on consolidating power and maybe dishing out a little payback.

I hope it doesn't go that way because I'm really aggravated with most of those clowns.

Obama elected in Europe... well for our standards Obama is still very conservative and, when he would keep his American ideas, very right (Politics right).
Pre weapon posession, pre death sentence, against homo marriage...
He wouldn't make it far with that attitude (at least I hope so).

it's really nice to see that USA got his first black president.

one more thing, i found this on internet and i'm not sure if it's really from Nostradamus but it's worth of looking it:

"243
The great empire will be torn from limb,
The all-powerful one for more than four hundred years:
Great power given to the dark one from slaves come,
The Aryana will not be satisfied thereby."

Aryana is a name for territory of Iran, Iraq and Afgh. if i understood it correctly.

It's not spooky at all when you understand the psychology behind horoscope predictions and so on. As long as any random prediction stays vague enough to be applicable to many different situations and as long as about 60 to 80% of what's predicted cóuld indeed happen theoretically with a somewhat high likeliness, it will eventually sound familiar at some point or will seem to be talking about a certain specific event... As a reaction (some) people believe it did predict something.

Truth is, it did not predict anything, we ourselves have just found an event that matches the words.

It only would become spooky (and believable) by the time a prediction is extremely and almost overly specific about what's to come, giving the exact date, time, names and so on,

Cheers
