windows sdk?? urgent

hi, it seems something on my conputer went wrong. for an unknown reason i cant compile with vc2008 express anymore. i get an error:
"fatal error LNK1104: Datei "kernel32.lib" kann nicht geöffnet werden"

googeling around i found it has to do something with the windows sdk. i cant remember i downloaded a windows sdk (filesizes range between 1.3 and >3 GB)

i am on windows xp...

any ideas what i need to do to get things working again?

the "windows sdk" came with vc2008 express, have you tried reinstalling vs2008 ?
