Computer Case?!?!? - 08/08/10 01:04

This probably sounds stupid, but do i need to buy a certain type of case for this motherboard ?
Intel DX58SO ATX Desktop Motherboard

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-DX58SO-ATX...5831&sr=1-2

If so, what do i need to look for?

As well as the motherboard i have these:

Corsair DDR3 4GB ram, http://www.micomonline.co.uk/products.asp?partno=CMV4GX3M2A1333C9&go

Intel Core i7-920 'D0 Stepping' Quad Core Processor, http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=27826&tid=frooct

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 768MB GDDR5 3600MHz GPU 675MHz 192bit Graphics Card, http://www.advancetec.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?REFPAGE=http://www.advancetec.co.uk/cgi-bin/ca000001.pl%3fACTION%3dSHOWCART%26REFPAGE%3dhttp%253a%252f%252fwww%252eadvancetec%252eco%252euk%252f&WD=11072&PN=nVidia_GTX460_GPU.html%23a11072#a11072

From what i can tell they are all compatible, will they affect my case choice?

Also, suggestions on PCU would be nice.

Thanks,
Blade

for mobo you need at least a ATX case which is pretty much every case around but make sure, double check it, didnot check other parts.

also you will have alot of heat while gaming with this parts so make sure air flow in the case is nice enough. also get a powerful-enough psu.

good enough, make sure the cables inside does not block the airflow, also i guess you can find same case for a cheaper price.

also check thermaltake and lian-li branded cases, they are generally perfect wink

Also make sure your case has cooling-fans "of its own",
either built-in, in installed extra. The more the merrier.
DONT count the PSU-fan, its only 'good' for cooling itself...

You arent likely to find a case with a beefy enough PSU,
not at a sensible price anyway. So go for PSU-less cases,
end get a quality PSU separately.
(ThermalTake brand have always done excellent in my experience)

I have seen some cases with a built-in plastic air-flow "funnel",
sometimes with its own fan, to pull hot air away from the CPU.
Great idea, BUT make sure it lines up with your mobo's cpu position...

Power-rating of PSU? Big as you can get.
Power-rating minimum? Bit of a black art calculating that.
But some people here can, but its beyond my megre math skills...
Just be sure to leave plenty of leeway.

Best of luck...

Theres a calculator, it will recommend you their own brand PSU's but you can just note the Wattage (?) and then buy a similar PSU with the same power.
