Ich fürchte, eine große 'crowd' wirst Du hier im Forum nicht finden. wink

If you don't have any disadvantages like prior payments or whatever, just try it! Deliver a good demo and start getting money! laugh

i think this wont work
but if you have no disadvantages, try it. then, the worst thing which can happen is: it wont work

(worst thing happening could be heavy disputes about how the collected money is to be used or returned)

http://www.indiegogo.com/ offers to different fundings: Fixed and flexible funding.
When a fixed funding has reached its deadline without reaching its funding goal, every backer will be refunded. Of course I would go this route.

I haven't voted yet... I'm wondering... what do you actually need money for?

For models, localization and professional voice over artists.
Besides that, I´ll have to work 24/7 to spit out a new version in a reasonable time frame.

Calculate how much you'll lose when it's not funded and then give it a try if risk is not too high.

Even if it does not work out, you have at least tried it once and know how it works and what to take care of. Any maybe for the next time it will succeed.

What you need is PR material in english to reach a lot of people. That means screenshots, concept art and a convincing video, that is like an advertisement. Make those people say/think/feel like ... "geee... awesome! We must bring this alive!!!". And then you have to spread the word.

I don't know how ":schutzkontakt" appeals to english speaking people, but the name could be already raising eyebrows.

It´s intentionally 100% Sauerkraut for that reason.

Re: :schutzkontakt crowdfunding at IndieGoGo? - 03/13/12 21:47

You may want to market it under two different names. Us linguistically challenged folk don't know what schutzkontakt means, so most of us would immediately dismiss the game as "some foreign game I can't play".

If the title is not in english,
Walmart will put the red
"approved by terrorists" sticker on.

Re: :schutzkontakt crowdfunding at IndieGoGo? - 03/13/12 21:58

It's true. It also happens if the title spells "colour" or "favourite" with a "u".

Just look into the games category of the IndieGoGo site. You will see that most projects collect nothing or a few Hundreds. Just a few reach a few Thousands.

If there is no big name, advertising or some successful project behind it, then it just dont work. The reason is, that donators need some significant amount of confidence to spend their money.
