current0.SAV file question

current0.SAV file question - 08/09/06 20:07

I have a 'save game' function in my game that works fine until I transfer the published .CD file onto disk and install the game on another machine. Then I cannot save a game. I think this is because the current0.SAV file becomes a 'read-only' attribute. How do I prevent this from happening so that the current0.SAV file that gets installed on another machine from a CD I make can be overwritten by my save game function on the mchine the game has been installed on?

Thanks, DBG

Make installer with NSIS, InnoSetup or alike.
If you don't want to do that, make simple runme.bat or runme.cmd file like:
Code:

@echo off
attrib -R %1\*.* /S /D

and run it: "runme d:\games\my_game" after .cd files transferred to a harddrive.

Thank you Lion Ts for your help. I have solved the problem by using an installer program to compress my game files for installation.

Ironically I used the Clickteam installer which is available for free by the makers of a different games authoring program. It really is too bad that GameStudio does not provide its own installer, even for the Pro editions.

Thanks again for the quick reply, this forum can be very useful.
