I now have DarkBASIC and 3D Game Studio - 07/03/07 17:58

It was only 20 bucks so I figured I'd try it out.
Can anyone tell me what is the difference and from experience if you have any witch is nicer to use or easier? Or even better lol, DarkBASIC had FPS Creator and I downloaded a DEMO but I heard it is sort of basic like really basic.

Bought Darkbasic many years ago and found it to be a waste of money. Doesn't mean that Darkbasic is bad, I just didn't put any time in it to learn because:

- Disliked the basic language and math requirement for good games
- No level editor unless you make one
- Required to purchase more tools (close to cross-selling)
- Bad support (never received paperback manual)
- The software full of bugs

Now you have Darkbasic Pro and FPS, but I never purchase any of those products. Maybe things have become better? Really don't know.

I'm starting to notice all of those things I will probably just wait for FPS CreatorX10 also hehe it looks awesome I doubt I will buy DarkBASIC PRO. I guess I wasted some money there.

Magus, I believe I would stick with 3DGS, you get better support overall for my concern. You have probably the best world editor with 3dgs, you get code examples on how to use your commands, which "DARK" doesn't do, you have script templates stored in your 3dgs directory to use to make games without doing much coding. For my two cents I like the WEB FOURMS they have helped me a lot of times. They are helping me now with a question. Overall 3DGS is the BEST GAME ENGINE OUT THERE FOR INDE GAME DEVELOPERS.

I think I will stick with 3DGS I really need to start tinkering with it more and one thing I didin;t even think of I had no idea it had built in script templets I thought it just had really basic scripts and you still had to code a lot?

templates are just that, there more for when you just starting to get us to the different parts and "click together a game" but if your makeing a reall game or something your going to want to make your own code. Its easyier to understand your own code.

I think Darkbasic Pro is not a good choice. Because it doesn't has a level editor, model editor, the core engine is not multitasking and it requires a lot of third party tools.

I bought the DarkBasic(not Pro) with DarkMatter bundle some years ago, lucky I haven't waste time on it.

If you buy all the affiliate 3rd party tools I believe the cost is higher than the A7 Com version, so don't waste money further.

If you just want a programming language, why not try lite-C? It is free for learning and much powerful then DarkBasic. Conitec is very serious in lite-C so you can fully bet on it.
