A7 and FBX bone animation - 08/02/07 03:16

Hi

I am using Maya making a test boen animation. it s simple cylinder bend with bone animation.
Then I export to FBX and import it to MED (A7 demo) and could not see bone animation. If I dont check "bone" option, i get vertex animation (old way), but when I check it, I get NO animation, no bone animation.

I have read some where when A7 will support bone animation of FBX, but now it still not, or I am doing sth wrong.

If you're FBX file contains more than 1 bone per vertex influence, you will need A7 7.04 Pro. All other versions only support 1 bone per vertex.

Quote:

MED FBX import now also supports bones animation with an arbitrary number of bones per vertex. The FBX format is not downwards compatible to itself, so two FBX importers were now implemented. The normal importer is for FBX files saved with the 2006 FBX version, the 2005 importer is for FBX files saved with the 2005 FBX version. Multiple bones animation can only be imported, but not edited in MED. The number of bones per vertex is visible under Model Properties. The engine can animate with up to 4 bones per vertex. The number of bones per vertex can be restricted by setting the max_bones variable.

The demo has always been the lowest version in the past. I know that Atlas mapping is going to be included in a new version of the demo per a user's request, though. I don't know when that will be released. If you think the more advanced FBX support should be part of the demo, then you should let Conitec know by posting in The Future or perhaps Ask Conitec.

Hi, I'm testing the demo of A7 and I have the same probleme:

I try this:

In maya 8.0 with fbx exporter up-to-date to MED.
A simple cylinder with 5 bones.

Test with Rigid Bind (1 bone/vertex influence) > MED : with bake complex animation [ON] in the fbx exporter: skin move, but not bones (in the fbx importer of MED, bones are disable).. If I eneable bones when importing, I see bones not moving, skin moving and when I move bones, the influence exist, but med make an interpolation between skin animated and bones weight.

Without bake complex animation: no bones and strange movement of vertex.

Test with smooth bind and Max influence set to 1 : same problem.

I tested all versions of fxb exporting parameters (2006,2006,...) not working

When I try to import in med with the fbx 2006.. version : crash of med

I'm sure that I have tested all solution of exporting/importing fbx
